It could affect your pcs performance, resulting in longer load and start up times. As for firefox, I'd reinstall it.

Absolutely. I am in this same situation. I need to move a number of things off of my current drive onto my projects drive.

If you have limited space it can really take a toll on transactions between memory and your harddrive.

Ya it will slow down read performance because the head has to look farther away from the center of the disk to get the data.

A slow CPU can also dramatically affect load times. A 2.4 GHZ p4 is going to load much slower then a 3.2ghz p4.
