If Rome:TW can do it... Halflife2 can 2!

rating?

Remember when their was evidence of doom3 being reviewed by the ESRB. Has anyone found anything like that for halflife2 yet

Yeah, Gabe said so himself.

All they do to get a game reviewed by the ESRB is compile up a movie (20-30 minutes long, IIRC) of all the various parts of gameplay from the game, mainly focussing on the violent/sexual parts etc, and play it in front of a board of 5 (IIRC, not very many anyway) people who then decide what rating to give it.

The ESRB people do not even play the game.

although I do look more forward to Rome: Total War.

They ought to show the tame parts :p naw, they'd get in trouble.

"oh wow! what beautiful scenery!" (gordon is watching the mountains all the while the guys are fending off the aliens)

"whats that sound? sounds like someon getting shopped into two"
"They're doing Beat Box."
(cheerfully) "ok! E rating, for everyone!"

I'll confirm it. It was discussed during an interview with a gaming mag.

Thanks for that, I was waiting for someone to confirm it.:)

this game will be out first week november. they're sending an rc to vivendi this week hopefully. two-three weeks after that it will go gold. two-three weeks after that it's in our hands. that's assuming the rc will be sent to Vivendi this week. If not later in november or God forbid Christmas. I was really hoping this game would make summer. that hope has ended. looks like i'm hoping now to play the game before the spring.

On the whole World Wide Release thing...

Correct me if I am wrong, but I remember some site doind an interview with Gabe Newell a while back asking about the world wide release of HL2 and his answered was not a very sure one. It went something like, "yea, well I think we've gone a little over our heads on stating that it will be a world wide release..." Just like when they were over-confident about the whole Sep. 30th date. I'm sorry I don't have a source for you guys, but I swear I read that not too long ago... so to sum it up: I don't think it will be released simultaneously world wide. But please, call me on this and see about tracking that interview down, cause I swear it was legit.

Chris

I think he means that it's not really in their hands. When the game is delivered to VUG, it's up to them from there on, and there could be a huge delay between Europe and US, but they are aiming for a simultaneous release.

Nah i think one of the reasons piracy was rampant at dooms launch was because everyone in europe etc etc wanted it so then stole it. And i would guess most of them did'nt like it(don't turn this into a d3 vs hl2 thread) so then never bought it.

And anyway i would be disconnecting from the internet if ze americans got it first :p

Actually what the hell am I saying :p I would buy it from steam.

Well that was a stupid thing by ID Software to do. Making us Europeans wait a week, thats not on. i waited and bought it anyway.

I live in Bellevue, WA where Valve is...like 10 min drive....
If HL2 is released in other countries first and I have to wait for a week to get my copy.... I would go down there and do one person protest until I get my copy or you know.... some other way using.....

My point is.... highly anticipated games like HL2, RTW must have worldwide releases.... thinking people will wait nicely to get their games few weeks after initial release is naive....

VU are doing world release for Mithis' Nexus (use to be Imperium Galactica III) so surely they will do world release for HL2? Didnt think Imperium Galactica was that popular (well i didnt like it that much).
