If you are buying a new mouse.

I don't have the mx1000 myself (I have mx510), but I read it in various magazines. They all say mx510 is the gamer's choice.

Since this thread has been re-activated, I'll say that I originally bought the wireless microsoft intellimouse but I decided I don't like the extra weight of the batteries, cuz sometimes you have to lift the mouse when playing a game and you get it way off center like by taking 5 left turns running up the staircase in HL2, also I don't like buying new batteries.

Also I figured a wired mouse would never have an interference or delay problem.

The wired microsoft mouse has an unordinarily long cord so thats what sold me, my other mice .. the cord is always like barely long enough so It can be a problem.

and its got more buttons

I'll have to check out these logitec mice everyone is raving about though their mice seemed like they were ok, they looked like they might be uncomfortable?

half alive, why do you always say things that you arent sure about?

I have the MX1000, it has no delay ... yes, it is wireless, but it uses FastRF technology which is proved to be as fast as a USB wired mouse (obviously not as much bandwidth, but that is irrelevant because a mouse needs hardly any).

How about you do a little bit of research about things before you try and contribute to a discussion on which you know nothing about?

It's true - it has none of that initial lag after picking it up. It is very good for gaming, and is better at normal non-gaming computer usage than the MX510. Saying that, there is a special gaming edition MX518 mouse about to be released, which has very high sensitivity ratings.

And LOLOL about the mousepad bit.... its true, its like frosted black glass that is used by many pro gamers out there - same with the SteelPads. I use the X-Trac mousemat myself, because I got it at the LAN i went to, and its more material, so i can roll it up. Also its not ice cold every morning lol.

Because I read it somewhere. If I read something in a well known magazine, I think it might just be true.

I heard/read it. I'm not sure if it's true, but I bring it up so someone else can confirm it, or prove it wrong (like you did).

Oh btw, allways?

Edit: Oh I see.. sorry  Maybe I should think before using my logic... damn, what I said about the glass thing was stupid  :D

well, 2/2 so far. You were quick to call the glass mousepad as bullshit ... I think even a monkey knows that light passes through glass... you think a team of designers at a mouse-pad factory would fail to recognise this?

Mouse lag is an issue on nearly every other wireless mouse, but not the MX1000. If you read otherwise in a magazine, sue them. Or tell me what magazine, so I can sue them.

I can promise you that the MX1000 has no lag, regardless of what any magazine says. I've seen the speed benchmarks comparing it with a wired mouse, and it's just as fast.

Ok, sorry again. I found that magazine that said that. It's called Computer!totaal (dutch magazine). It's pretty funny actually; At first they reviewed the mouse (november 2004) and gave it a 10/10. But later in an article about the best gamepads/joysticks and mice for gamers, they said "do not buy an mx1000; it has a delay because of it's wireless functionality. Buy an mx510."

Oh and I'm sure of this :D (I have the magazines in front of me right now)

i have mx500, and it is THE mouse ! like it is from titan, it survived TONS of kicking ;) and it is still working perfect ! LOVE IT.
hs in cs - easly ;)

Where does one obtain this holy grail of mouse mats - the coveted black glass mat ?

I bought a non-reflective clear pad that doubles as a ... something like a desk calender cover. This way I can write on it. Its huge, so my mouse will never fall off the edge! :( :imu:

Got an MX510 here, Had a Microsoft Intelimouse Optical before that and the software conflicted with a few other drivers, so I had to un-install the software and lose the extra buttons functionality to cure the conflict.

Personally I think the MX510 is the best mouse I've ever used, My mouse mat is only 5 inches square or so, A half inch slide to the right/left moves the mouse to the opposite side of the screen.
Its also very accurate and comfortable for long periods of use.

My mouse mat is actually a Special teflon mat bought from "Tesco's", it was about 1 foot and a half square, and is used to catch the spills in the bottom of your cooker/oven, But because its Teflon, its slippier than ice on glass, And easy to clean.

So my 5 inch square piece is part of that, which I cut off.

Oh! And I heard the MX1000 uses a Laser for the tracking and not an LED like the majority of optical mice.

Its actually the first mouse to use a laser in this way.

yeah the MX1000 uses a laser and fastRF to get precision and speed, it's the dogs bollocks. I've not got one bad thing to say about it :D

Sorry for the bumpage, but i'm about to buy an MX510 \:D/

I was just wondering how long is the mouse cable ?, my tower is on the floor you see :)

I could buy an extention lead, but that will bump the delivery charge up quite a bit due to the weight :|

Microsoft may be trash when it comes to software. But not when its about hardware, i got this MS Intelli Mouse Explorer 4.0 which is a fantastic mouse so dont say its crap please.

It's 177.4 cm :) (excluding the mouse itself and the plug)

Excellent...a perfect fit!, cheeries :D

Keep in mind that the wire was 177cm when streched tight in a line, so it was a little longer than a rimply mousewire would be.

I got the blue one. When I went to the store to buy an mx500, I saw the mx510 right next to it. I checked it out and saw "gamers mouse, 5.8 Megapixels/s". So I bought that one. I didn't know about a red one. :( ah well, it looks great anyway (little dark though).

I agree with that review... A mouse is for life, not just for christmas... It's worth spending a little extra for a decent mouse, definately one as awesome as the MX1000. Unless you're left handed, of course.

I'm waiting for the MX518.

As for mouse pads - func all the way :)
