What type of government would lead your country?

Give reasons why, too.


I didn't put every government type in the poll (obviously, because there are hundreds), but if you have, say, a Socialist Democracy like Stigmata, then just vote Democracy, it's in the same category.


For me, it'd be a government led by the military (Stratocracy, I think). It just seems like you'd have most control, my nation would be powerful, but it'd have SOME Democracy in there for order of the people. You'd have to put 5 years of your life starting at the age of 20 into the military if you want to live in my country! Voted Other.


EDIT: Damn I spelled Anarchy wrong.. It's not Anarachy...
 
Socialist democracy, for a lot of very good humanistic reasons.

I do not know much of what the future in government holds but what I do know is I'll probably be some kind of scientist, building inventions in my space lab in space. I'll end world hunger and I'll make Dolphins speak. Work through the daytime, spend my nights and weekends perfecting my warrior robot race. Building them one laser gun at a time. I will do my best to teach them about life and what it's worth, I just hope that I can keep them from destroying the Earth.
 
A Democractic Republic under a state of emergency and martial law, which has the democratic parts of the constitution suspended.


Oh yeah. It'd be the best place to live in, if you aren't a hippy. The age of conscription would be 14 ~ 15, for both sexes (and only 15% of the entire population would be subject to it, through random drafting). There would be constant, unending conquering and war, and this would keep the economy alive and flourishing. Essentially, the military council would rule over the land, and it would be efficient to a point that Democracy can no longer compete with it. Communism would be illegal, National Security would be the foremost of goverment, Religious organizations would be severly limited in their range of activities, ect. The police would be a paramilitary force, with the ability to pass judgement by their own in a case of "Protocol 17", or curfew times. The ultimate punishment would be the revocation of citizenship, which would be the same as depriving you of your human rights. There would be propaganda posters stirring up patriotic feelings in every street corner, there would be propaganda broadcasted everywhere, and all the news agencies and media will be "finacially supported" to the point that they are all like loyal dogs of the military, or at least like Fox news.

My rule would be a sort of benevolent autocracy. I would control the government and certain aspects of peoples' lives, but I assure you, it'd be for the better of mankind. My decisions will not be based off of personal power, vanity, or greed, but I will do what I need to to ensure the survival and progress of the human race. Under my rule, everyone would have peace.

And when I extend my hand with the secret military I've been building, all countries before me who choose to accept my rule as absolute will also know the peace my country has enjoyed.

Unless they defy me, at which point I will nuke them from the skies.

Anarchy.. at least minimal government. Few seem to consider that option anymore.
 
Yeah - imagine what a breath of fresh air it would be to not have some ruling machine dictating the way to live. I believe it would be a great success, and I would govern, beloved, for a thousand generations.
 
I would only govern in my capacity as the great horned mushroom-goddess. I'm pretty lax...

I think you're thinking of a laissez-faire Tyranny. Which, besides being on the opposite end of the political spectrum from Anarchism, is pretty counterproductive.

And it doesn't help that choosing Anarchy is basically saying "You know what, I don't want to be the leader, so whoever can win at life gets to lead us all." It'd take us back to the stone age within hours, except there'd be abandoned stores and a lot more firearms.
 
If communism could ever, work, itd be a decent system IMO. As of now, thats pretty much impossible, so I'd say democracy.

I would totally be benevolent dictator like DarkSEID, but I'd feel a bit guilty out of it.

What is the point of running a country if you don't have absolute power?
 
The poll doesn't really make much sense. You, by yourself, cannot run a country if it is an Anarachy, Democracy or Republic.
 
Well for Anarchy, you could be elected/appointed as leader, then just be like "Before I resign - ANARCHY! START YOUR LOOTIN!".

For Democracy you could be the guy who has most power for starters until your voted out.

I don't know for Republic.
 
I'd be a lovable dictator. I'd brainwash the population into loving me, whilst building up a massive military power.

A lot like north korea, but with more love and less poverty.
 
I would put one of those office water dispensers as ruler
