If you want to help Valve.

This is to the few who have resisted the temptation to dl the beta. The best way to help Valve is to email the addresses of every warez site distributing the beta, or any other site for that matter. Also to email address of any site posting pics to of this beta.

Mass arrests have been down before in History even though they must have been pretty ugly. Maybe this would be a good time to set an example!

What i say is if your sick and tired of hearing about this then do a bit of research for dl sites and email them. I was just in an irc warez channel looking for info and out of interest i threanted one of the mods with the FBI, just to see how he would react. He was yellow as can be. Starting accusing me of wanting downloads etc... he said he was scared etc... then booted me and said he would see me in hell. All you need to do is put a bit of fear across the net and a few arrests etc.. and people will think twice about doing it.

Valve going after the downloaders is only a waste of time. You will not accomplish anything but pissing off your fans. I would say that just about everyone that downloads the hl2 beta is a huge fan of Valve/Half-Life series or else they would not spend the time to download the huge file. I'm sick of all these children thinking that they have accomplished something by sending Valve the links to the downloads. The only way you can help Valve is to go back in time and secure their network. The cat is out of the bag and there is nothing that can be done to stop it. It is time to start coping with the problem instead of pretending to think you can contain it.

I'm still planning on getting the full version as it comes out simpy because I respect what valve does and I'm looking farward to play online once again.

I just want to play the game, it sounds amazing. The "beta" out there is not the game.

lol... you just dont seem to get it do you. We get sissy boys like Graham on who say its not possible but it is. You just need to turn the tide agaisnt these people. I mean all you need to do is spent 10 mins a day looking for info, post it to the correct authorities and hopefully they will get the site closed down. Yeah ok other sites will open but then you look for them get them closed down.

Its a long going battle but eventually these people need to be worn and brken down its the only way to stop them.

While I think it's wrong to DL it, it would also be wrong to go after the downloaders. Most people are just anxious to see if thier computers and video cards can handle it. 99% of the people who download it will buy it anyway. Just my 2 cents.

It isn't possible and if you really knew the facts, you would agree also. This is the exact same reason people still trade music on-line. You can go around and report all the sites you want but you can't get rid of it. You can barely put a dent in the file sharing problem(even when threatining legal action). Next time you might want to do some research before you start calling names like the immature child that you are.

"From what I've seen of Half-Life 2, it looks like it's going to be a really fun game," he said. "My focus would be on doing the thing that's going to make the game great: Focus on finishing it. ... The risk is they find out who did it and [the hacker is] a resident of Russia. Then there's not a damn thing you can do about it. Ultimately, we're in the business of making games, not chasing hackers."

You said earlier that you could stop the distribution by spending 10 minutes everyday reporting the links. Now you are saying that making a dent is better than nothing. Which is it? It sounds like you have already given up.
