Hey guys,
this is very exciting news for us and I though I should share it with you if you haven't seen it already:

I can't add any more comments to this. We are just too excited and overwhelmed by this news. All I can say, it is a great opportunity for us. Congrats to the other mod teams!
Cu in Frisco guys!

Congrats to the entire ES team!

Too bad there wasn't really any competition though :(

I guess I'll just take that as a compliment. But if you look at the entrants, Iron Grip and Empires were both on there, and they're both rather good mods also.

You need to have played Empires for a few months to really see how absolutely awesome it is. Eternal Silence is fun, but it grows boring for me after some time, even with decent teams.

It was a compliment. In my opinion ES was easily the strongest mod release of 2006, hence "no competition". I didn't mean to suggest that ES won by default, if that's what you're implying.

Well we did only release 1 map. Empires has a much easier time providing maps than most other mods, because the players essentially make it themselves. I think you will be pleased by the maps coming in beta 2 though.

Well thanks then, I must have misread it. The sad face at the end is sort of misleading. Multiplayer FPS Mod was one of the really tough categories too.

As always, big fan of Eternal Silence... Glad to see it getting the recognition it deserves..

Now that you are all big famous people, add in the carrier ships, so I don't have to fly... :)

Kudos ES team!

Though i do have to agree with beerdude about Empires. Sure ES is nice and new and shiny, Empires has better gameplay. Its such a shame that so few people play it.

I love your mod, but there are never any players online. hope the new maps bring more players.

That is pretty normal. I remember the first early versions of CS. Beta 1 and 1.1 was a stress test. TBH, there wasn't much content in just the bare bone part of the game. So there wasn't much entertainment to feed to you guys.
We got alot of feedback from the community, which we needed and wanted to get the game in the direction, where it's supposed to be.

Beta 2 is going to be filled with alot more content, more maps, more ships and more little stuff. So I am sure once that version hits the internet, more players will be back and stay, cause this beta 2 will be more challanging for you guys. So stick around, we won't let you down!

I hope you guys have reworked the infantry combat, it's currently so DM-ish.

What do you suggest? We are open for good ideas! So if you like to brainstrom a bit, go ahead. I will carry it to the rest of the guys!

Thx.

I would make it more squad based, with each class supporting and/or complementing each other. And maybe add some tripwires that can only be put on the enemy ship (so you don't boobytrap your own ship to damnation).

Well really we technically only have two "classes" of Hackers and Marines.

They each have different sub-sets depending on play-style of our players and sort of the needs at hand. For example, if you are going to be assaulting close-corridors or want to block off access temporarily to areas, use a flamethrower. For longer distances, and also if you think you'll come across groups of enemies, get a Rifle.

Obviously, we're always tweaking the weapons to make sure they all complement each other, but yes what we eventually hope for is where within squads there is a large variety of weapons. I actually saw lots of this when we initiailly released.

Tripwires aren't that likely to get put in though. Those would be sort of annoying.

Congrats ES team! You guys build a more than awesome mod, kudo's from the IG dev-team!
:)

Yall need to increase the viewpunch for all weapons, and double the damage. That would stop it from being so "dm-ish". Reduce viewpunch when crouched and standing still.

That would definetly reduce the run and gun level. Increase nade effectiveness too, so people have a chance of getting through chokepoints. Just my two cents.

Oh, and Definetly Kudos for winning, good job!

could you guys redo the player models by stretching them? they look like kids in adult uniform.
