IGN Hands On:Assassins Creed PC

Well then, obviously beta.

Dual Core 4200+ AMD
Alpha Dog XFX 8800GT
2Gb Ram

Pretty much the same system as mine, except your vid cards better, so the retail version should be smooth for you too.

I am running the retail version without a glitch. Haven't had a crash during two playing sessions. Got the graphics on 2/3 - 3/4. My rig:
DC 6600
8800GTS
2 gigs of ram

I'll definitely buy knowing it doesn't crash etc.

'I always found Assassin's Creed to be a 6/10 experience wrapped up in a 9/10 game engine.'

This man speaketh the truth.

I heard it was pretty janky and I'm only interested in seeing the City tech in effect, I'll hold out for the Demo or when it hits budget.

You can criticize the gameplay all you like, but that review lost me after it called it a "tardy port", which it clearly is not.

Same. The game engine is very good. It has its problems which should be sorted in a patch or two hopefully. It plays well. The game play I love tbh. I just love killing guards. The AI needs work tho. Plus the story has me hooked, it keeps me playing the game. I can't wait for the other games. Hopefully they come soonish for the PC and they don't **** them up. Hopefully they learn and make the next one better.

The cities in itself are one of the main attractions imo. I reached Acre today and it has again a totally different feel to it. Damascus is a dusty provincial city, Jerusalem a grand place and Acre all shot up and half burned. I don't see too many copy-pasted buildings so it feel quite fresh every time you enter new surroundings.
I also like that you get to do one neighbourhood per assassination. I first scout the place by climbing to all the viewpoints. Gets you a good feel for the layout of everything. Then I visit the bureau and start doing the missions, and maybe wtfpwn any crusaders I run into. Round it all off with the hit itself and then back to al-Mualim. Playing with the full HUD at the moment, but I might switch that off.
I also like the way the story is developing.
I am assuming that the people you assassinate and the company that holds you hostage in the 21st century have the same goal. What that goal is I haven't quite figured out yet, but I am assuming it will lead to a clash with al-Mualim. Especially since Altair seems to have a tad bit of pity for his victims.

Yeah, the cities are amazing IMHO. I just love the feel to each one of them. How do you turn the HUD off? I did that by accident and don't know how to turn it on.

Yeah I think thats what happens. I could tell you some more but I don't want to ruin it for you.

When in-game go to options. You can change the HUD-settings there.

And I am taking my time; I still have to do the third assassination.

I'm about to do my 6th. I can't be bothered to go to all the view points. While the view is brilliant. They barely expose any of the map. I mean I go to the highest point in Acne I think and I barley get any of the map unexposed. This point is bloody high too.

I loved it. I did the bear minimum to play the game. But I enjoyed every minute of it. The ending was amazing. The last fights and the ending was brilliant and I cannot wait for the next games. It means a game set in 2012. Not sure how that will work but I hope they pull it off.

Bah my computer will never run that game. But then again I don't really care..Doesn't really look like a game I'd play too much of.
