They have it up now:
They say Lombardi confirmed it with THEM.
"September 23, 2003 - In a not-so-surprising move, Valve Software has officially, positively confirmed that Half-Life 2 will *gasp* be delayed.
Doug Lombardi, Valve Software's director of marketing, confirmed with us today that Valve has decided to delay Half-Life 2 from it's original slated September 30th release. The official word is that Valve is "targeting a holiday release." No official new release date has been announced at this point.
While we're a bit sad that we won't be playing Half-Life 2 next week, we here at IGN actually applaud the delay announcement. If Half-Life 2 truly isn't ready for release, then so be it. We would rather play a well-tested, perfected game than a buggy sequel to a title we hold in high esteem.
Of course, we'll have more info as it becomes available.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled pining."
