I'm certain this is a new discovery

The time: Today.
The place: Route Kanal.

Here's what happened. I reached that giant room in the sewers with a whole lot of barrels (explosive). I knew that manhacks come into the room, and you have to do your best to destroy them without killing yourself, but it was only now that I realized where they came from. I noticed a small vent near the ceiling, on the opposite end from the entrance, and upon ho[ping on the big pipe to get to the water-filled room, I jumped up to take a peek in the vent, just out of curiosity, once all the hazard were gone.

I saw a familiar glint at the very end of the tunnel.
I thought about throwing a grenade in to blast it my way, but I'd already used it to test whether barnacles can catch them in Half-life 2 itself (they will in Episode Two). I'd used the SMG nade as well, to clear some manhacks earlier.

Finally, after many minutes of toiling, I managed to balance a barrel (non-explosive), hopped on a steel beam in front, and managed to crawl in.

I've never had a more satisfying :::zap::: sound. ;)

Has anyone else found it yet? If not, then just goes to show Valve's ingenuity yet again!

A zap sound? Care to tell us what was in there?

ya i never really thought to look up there but i didnt really understand what you found.

I noticed the vent, but I could never get in. What did you find?
I'll proboaly check it out myself tomorrow.

It was probably from a manhack and was blown in there when hit by an explosion from a barrel or something.

There's a battery inside. It's pretty easy to get there infact, you just have to use quickly barrel you stack. Hence I have to dissapoint you, but it's not a new discovery.:p

It's a battery - just a little bonus for the dudes who like to explore.

"It took me a shitload of time to crawl in that damn vent and all I got was this lousy battery"

...what is that?

Well, you see, when a man and a woman love each other very much...but the woman can't be bothered with the mans pestering at all and actually wants to feel good for a change, she will send the man away to the pub, and use that battery powered device to...satisfy....herself.

You'll understand when your older....

Manhacks never drop batteries. Scanners yes, but there are no scanners near that place. Next time, I'll save my grenade for it, probably much easier too! Thank goodness they're indestructible.

But damn, it was well hidden!

Battery in the vent in the room where the water flows in.

Old :D

I've barrelled in. But its not that big a deal. They should have probably put something extra in there. Maybe a combine assault rifle secondary. Shoot one of those energy balls.

Um... what's the point in an orb when you don't have the AR2...?

You get the AR2 when you have the Gravity Gun. It's much later on, I believe, just before Highway 17 and near a sniper... if I remember correctly.

And yeah, it is a bit. But I guess it has its uses. And it's always fun attempting to get there.

You get the pulse right outside Ravenholm. One of the soldiers in that 1st squad you fight drops it. Theres an orb in the building where the Resistance are fighting them, no others for a long time.

Oh and kriztov, there is a secret pulse rifle orb (and SMG grenade too) very well hidden on Highway 17. Here's a hint: at the map with the giant crane. A whole bunch of boxes needed to stack up to get behind...

The orbs don't really count in the citadel... you're gging them rather than firing them with an AR2.

That's exactly where I said :p.

Not tried it. Bet if you got close enough you might be able to. And you managed to live that long.

That's what he was talking about. Those energy balls are the ones your AR2 produce

Huh? You're saying that the ones that go up and down in the tubes are the same thing as the AR2's secondary fire?

They look different.

in 'water hazard' i found a cave with a couple of zombies and alot of skulls and like a health paks nm but it was hard to find and seemed out of place

They are somewhat different, but only in appearance and damage. The both bounce around maniacally.

Pulse rifle orbs do half the damage of explosives, while generator orbs do around twice the damage (also noticeable at the final battle, with the two gunships, but it's best to ignore them by that point.)

Okay, I got it.

I actually did shoot down the two gunships. Breen was still pretty far below me so I wasn't pressed for time. That final battle is a cinch, anyway.

Especially when played before. Did it in like 5 seconds. Breen was half-way through a speech.
