i never got the chance to play the first half life, so if u could help me out a bit, id appreciate it. were doctors Vance, Kleiner, Breen, and Magnison introduced in Half life 1? Was the combine in HL1? Who the freakn crap is Gman and when did we learn his name?

No the scientists from HL2 weren't there in the first game, they were only introduced in HL2 onwards. Nor was Alyx, but you play as Barney in an expansion of HL1 called Blue Shift. Gman can be seen appearing out of nowhere from time to time and you get the feeling that hes stalking you. No one has any idea who he is, and his name is not necessarily Gman, we can only relate to him as "Gman" because thats what his character model is called.

You don't fight the Combine or Synth in the first game, but with another alien race known as Xen. The Xen enslaved the vortigaunts and as Freeman killed their leader, they are freed. Thats why they are very friendly with you in the second game. Seriously bro, just buy or even download the game (and get banned from these forums) and play it! Its got quite a storyline.

Exactly rjthrog... I bought the OB soley to get Portal and TF2, but ended up playing HL2 and loved it. Wanted to know more about what came before so, using common sense, I went to the Steam store and *gasp* bought Half Life... The HL series is without a doubt one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had.

The g-man does not have a name. Gman is just the name that his game files (his model, texture, voices etc) are called so it's what everyone refers to him as. G-man, by the way, is slang for government agent. It's because he looks like one.

Edit: Also, FFS play Half-Life.

Also when you say those scientists weren't in HL1, technically they were there working in Black Mesa and some of those generic scientists we meet at certain points are supposed to be the ones we know so well in HL2. Eli references a conversation he had with you from HL1 for example.

Also Xen is a borderworld and nothing is native it to.

The game was made in 1997. It will run on pretty much any PC made in the last ten years. It's also on the PS2

Technicaly we did meet Eli and magnessun in black Mesa. Eli is the guy who opened the door, and magnessun is the guy who gad the casserole in the microwave right next to where you first got the hazard suit. I also think that kleiner was in the test chamber control room, but there's no proof.

in the first game you meat alyx and klener if i remember. when u start the 1st time your going to have to remember that when you see gman its a experience, really cool. in the game dont worry about vance he's only been part of it, not even long enough to remember, i even almost forgot he was in it haha
