I haven't stayed at the Vdara yet, being a about-once-a-year Vegas visitor who stays cheaply, so I haven't experienced this for myself. But I heard about this on the radio this morning and had to post it. Seems the concave shape of the hotel and shiny surface turns this hotel into a giant magnification mirror.
Here is the article
Around noon, all sorts of shit gets f*cking melted and burned. Like this shit:
The holes are where black lettering with the hotel's name used to be.
Here's a diagram of how this shit happens.
Don't they run simulations to determine whether something like this is going to happen? Don't even act like they didn't have a 3D computer model of this hotel to cast virtual computer light on. That's the shit that architects do these days. I mean, it's not even the first time shit like this has happened. The article mentions the Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles so I would think word gets out about "curved shiny buildings and their ability to wreak havoc on human ants."
ARCHITECTURE FAIL.
and shit
