If you can't find a Torrent or a fast server right away to download demos/patches etc, head on over to http://downloads.ign.com/

Their RedSwoosh software doesn't do anything to your computer and you'll be downloading popular files at around 120KB/sec. I downloaded FarCry and UT2004 demos at about 120KB/sec while everyone else was going to crappy Gamespy, Fileshack and other sites.

It's fast, and there's no wait.

Hmm. I always get thrown off by "forced" plugins to DL stuff. Oh well, IGN is pretty reliable.. I might give that a try (then again, I remember having the setup for that program on my computer and my spyware scanners kept detecting it as spyware..)

Sorry, but IGN requires paid membership for fast d/ls like FLP. And you need a "surge" for good direct anyway.

I can get faster stuff on DLX for those conditions.

And for anyone that gets spanish/portuguese www.gameover.pt has it all. No memberships, no progs to d/l, up to 1mb/s d/ls...

Make sure if you get IGN's plug-in thingy, though, that it does not add itself to your start-up programs. It'll slow your computer down noticably if it's in there, at least in my experience.

I always just delete it afterwards if I ever choose to download anything from there. But since it doesn't work half the time... I tend to stick with Fileplanet anyway.

Just use the danish website called Dailyrush.dk, because it's pretty easy to notice where the demos are... even if you're from china...
