I'm starting a new job tomorrow, and they said I couldn't have my facial piercing (in my eyebrow), so I tried taking it out putting in a retainer, but I couldn't do it :( I originally got it cuz my girlfriend wanted it, but now I realize I really liked it ;(

*sings*

Don't worry...be happy..

Just another life lesson, facial piercings and formal jobs don't usually go together.

Yeah and it sucks

edit: It's not even a formal job, I'm gonna be a delivery driver for Lowes. :|

This IS my new job... I just came out of a shitty ass job (longhaul truckdriver) so I could do this job. My eyebrow hurts :(

why not amenaze you boss whit scare the people you deliver things?

or attack the others deliveres?

Rofl, I can't even understand your post RJMC, but it is funny as hell. :)

Why would anyone want a peircing... If you ask me it's just for attention.

Maybe this is just the "geek" talking. But does it really matter? I've never really gone in for any of this "x clothes and y jewellery define me as a person" crap. I mean, come on, will it change you or you're life to stop wearing it?

This guy at my local video rental store has these "ring" earings in his ears that go completely in and expand the peircing creating an "earlobe ring"

Not to sound preppy or anything, but clothes do make you who you are now'n days.

You wear some crapy ass clothing with holes then girls and everyone around you will be put off.Now when it comes to labels...like say mmmm..Billabong or some fancy shirt it doesn't matter.

I'm not talking about labels, but the clothes themself. You do need some fashion sense now'n days...

I just ended up liking it.. I didn't care before, but now it's like I'm losing a part of myself.

hate to bust ur bubble LittleB but if u decide to look for another job, chances are, u will be asked again to remove that piercing.

its just the way the business world is... not everyone likes piercings and in the business world, employers want every opportunity to attract clients.. but i guess i didn't need to tell u that.

oh well, good luck.

If the worst thing that happens to you on any given day is that you are asked to remove a hunk of metal from your eyebrow which is currently a fashion accessory in this brief window of time.....

- its a pretty damn good day.

when u go in morning, take it off, when u go out for deliveries, put it back on ;)

Thats wise thinking. Yeah its modesty thing -- piercings, tattoos long hair stuff like that are no no to these guys. Steve Jobs put an end to his hippie looks so that companies and banks would listen to him, and when Apple got big it was his time to put an end to their corporate buttocks.

My friend (Yes, it is someone else) has a similar problem, in most classes at school he has to remove his eyebrow peircing. He keeps telling them it'll be infected but they just won't listen :|

I don't get it, if I see a person with a piercing it doesn't make them seem any less 'professional' to me. It's just a piece of jewellery..

It's a shame you had to lose your piercing though :( maybe you can get it done again sometime in the future?

Its society's view of someone professional, neat suit, combed short hair, etc.
Although since your a delivery driver, I really dont see why they need to enforce it. :| Go with the religion excuse.

It does to them. Its for working atmosphere purposes some people won't give you their respect just cause of the way you look. Thats why they got rules, Im sure its for the better.

But how does it affect them if hes on his own in a lorry most of the time? :| (Sorry LittleB, Im assuming.)

i read what u said... and when i was using the term "business world" i was speaking generally...because it doesn't matter if one is delivering pizza or working at a bank.. employers just don't tend to like piercings because piercings aren't something everyone in the general public likes.

i hope i made myself clear now.

Good point SimonomiS. Maybe is they're playing a practical joke or something. Theyre always like that to the new guys, I really don't know...Thats weird/silly and incovenient.

Heh, reminds me, teacher was telling us about his old job, one of the guys in there used to keep his hand on some generator for a while to charge his hand with static electricity, then he'd call the new guy over and grab him by the balls.
