This is the stupidest thing I have asked at this forum yet. I'm sorry but I can't get this back to normal to save my life! look in the picture.

I need to get the toolbar back in place. It was moved so far over that I cannot move it at all. I tried restarting my computer aswell as steam. is their something in the tools to set the interface as default again?

Well either reinstall the SDK without keeping user preferences etc, or try refreshing but that probably doesn't solve it. You should also look up in Windows (If there is such a submenu) and see if you can find the toolbar there.

are you sure it's enabled?
Go View > Screen Elements and make sure everything is checked if you're not sure.
I had trouble trying to get mine to even go off-screen, so I dunno. You could also try the 'Restore Down' windows button (to a regular, non-maximixed, window size) and try resizing it to the left?

I have done everything you have suggested already. Nothing has been working. =(

Ok. I think I have an answer for ya. Watch this space.

[Edit:]

Here we go.

Instructions

Follow these instructions exactly, it should be good.
be verry verry careful... I'm hunting wabbits. I mean, regedit is a dangerous tool.

Close Hammer, if it is open.
Click on the Start bar.
Select Run...
enter regedit in the dialogue presented.
press <enter> or click Ok
Scroll to the very top (within the Registry Editor), and select My Computer in the left pane.
Click the Edit menu item.
Select Find...
Enter Hammer in the dialogue presented.
Uncheck the Values and Data checkboxes. Keys should be the only item checked.
Click Find Next
When it finds something, click the little minus-thingy next to Hammer, in the left pane.
Click the folder Barstate-Bar11, in the left pane.
In the right pane, select XPos
Right click on XPos
Select Modify, from the context box presented.
In the Value data: field, enter the value 50
Click Ok
Close the Registry Editor.
Open Hammer.

If any part of this process does not produce the expected results (for instance, the regedit search doesn't find anything with the correct sub-keys) then stop and aska gain here. Unless you feel competant messing with the registry on your own (If you're not sure, then don't).

Hope this helps.
[/Edit]

Im slightly familur with the registry but say something doesnt work out.. hell i have system restore lol. One problem is it only found "Hammer.Map" and for some reason i dont believe that is the correct file. 2nd. I do not see any "Barstate-Bar11" anywhere.

the path to Hammer in the registry is:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Valve > Hammer ( > Barstate_Bar11 )

I was afraid of that. I think the exact path is dependant on windows version, because mine is different. Mine only had one key with 'Hammer' in it too.

For that matter, just replace Hammer with Bar11 for the search step and that should work too.

As for system restore? shouldn't be an issue. Most windows apps that have persistant window positioning save the settings in the registry. If you change only what I wrote, it'll be fine. I tried it on mine and it worked.

I love this forum. Thank you so so much guys. I owe you so much =) when I get a good enough knowledge of hammer hopefully I can help around here.

just out of curiosity, what Windows are you running and what was your direct path? I am running XP Pro SP2.
Very odd to have different paths... although I am no hardcore expert with Windows' registry.
I installed Steam at partition E:

Well when I looked to check, I found that I had it in two places. The one you mentioned, and also at:
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-448539723-1450960922-839522115-1003\Software\Valve\Hammer\
same but for the unique id number stuck in there.
I somehow missed the first result.
xp-sp2 also, btw
