Im stuck too soon

Hello everyone. I got HL2 a few days ago, but played source first. Now that i have gotten into HL2, i think i am stuck. Im at the part in the route kanal where the guys break the grate above your head and start throwing explosive barrels in the water. I think Im supposed to get into that other tube to the left after you jump in the water, but i cant reach it. I read a part of an online strat that said to swim to the bottom, wait for them to blow up, then swim up and get in the tube...but i can't get in it. i looked for a valve or switch or anything to make the water rise, but found nothing. i even messed with the barrels at the bottom and tried to throw it to the top and jump on it, but to no avail. Any suggestions??

You should be able to just get straight on.

Just try looking upwards as you are getting up, or jumping as you leave the water.

hi, thanks for the reply. i have tried all of that. when i get to the edge i get hung up on the bottom of the lip on the tunnel. if i get further back i dont have the air to get in.

BTW Did you try to duck as you got up on the ledge?

It just popped straight onto the ledge for me. If it's really giving you trouble use noclip to get onto the ledge.

I've been having this same problem all day today. I don't know what's wrong. I try to jump, jump and go ahead, push off the floor of the pool, I always get caught on the lip or just bob back down. I look straight up, up at the top of the tunnel, etc. It's been really getting me down as this is a great game so far. Any help for either of us here?
