I can imagine that in the beginning there might not have been enough moderators to keep the board clean from whatever kind of pictures that aren't allowed. Now there are a plenty of mods, practically moderating this board 24/7 isn't it possible to reinstate the image tags? I would very much like it...

Didn't you already ask this in the other thread? hmmmm :\

I think its going to stay set at no sig images, people get silly and they waste space and are so very very pointless. So no I don't think their going to be added here, just makes things look untidy

Sorry Polo

If it can be arranged that we can use
or kb size of the pictures then we can at least consider it.

I wasn't talking about sig images. I find those annoying overall, but images in posts like in Art & Design. This is the only forum that hasn't image tags enabled in posts and could add some extra to the posts imo.

Ex. there's a thread about classic cars. Now wouldn't be "better" "more fun" "easier" to have the pictures in the thread self instead of attachments you'd have to click in every post to actually view the car?

Ugh, hope this makes sense :|

If it can be arranged that we can use code within threads and still keep it disabled within signatures then it's a possibility. I'll speak to Munro about it. We could do a trial run with it and as long as it isn't abused and/or we can limit the dimensions and/or kb size of the pictures then we can at least consider it.[/QUOTE]
If the size can be limited that might be ok. My concern and the reason I'm so against it is how it looks on certain other forums, You've got a few words and then this massive sig with their name in, usually a badly drawn banner and they look really ugly. Not to mention the poor sods still using dialups, it must be a killer for those users

But if we can keep them sensible and everyone happy then I'll keep quiet and go with the flow like a branch on the shoulders of a mighty river :)

This isn't about having images in signatures. That's a big no no. But if we can do it within posts then it's cool with me.

People have abused the image tags in the past, and I don't really think anything will change about that if we enable them again. Keeping them off in the bigger forum sections (HL2 Discussion, Off-Topic) would be for the best.

Aren't there more mods on this board these days? Has the number of regisrtants decreased over the past few weeks? HAsn't the novelty of this board wore of now and isn't it a place were like a 100 regular posters now come everyday to whatever what they do, but the board seems to be doing fine and I don't see that many rotten apples at the moment and if there's an rotten apple that wishes to abuse the board shouldn't that one be dealt with instead of disabling a feature that is pretty handy in times?

At leas give it a try, I say

What's the point? As soon as the board hots up again, we'll have to revert to turning them off again... it doesn't really make sense to have them on in the first place. You'd also be surprised how many people are willing to post goatse or ******* in full view on any of the main forums, just for a laugh or something. Is it really that much more effort to click a link, then see the picture?

I thought mods were there for this kind of thing and dealt with this sort of people. Seems I'm mistaken...

Excuse me, but I'm not too fond of editing away a full sized picture of someone's inner-rectum. It got abused, we removed the tags. Simple as that... there's not really much point in adding it again.

Hi =)PoLo(= thanks for your suggestion.

We currently have this feature turned on in the editing and art forums for people to post images of their work such as art, maps or mod progress. It used to be turned on in the HL2 and Off Topic forums as well but unfortunately it got abused a great deal. It wasn’t just the fact people were posting vulgar images there was a great deal of offensive images being posted with no use whatsoever. Most of these were the usual “shut the f*** up”, “welcome to last week” images that litter the poor forums around the web.

The forums have slowed down in terms of new users and posts but unfortunately there are still a lot of people who lack the maturity to use images properly. I recommend you start a poll in this forum to see what other people think. If the majority thinks the images should return I’d be happy to give it a trial run. This is after all the community’s site and if it means a little extra work from the moderators so be it. Whatever you chaps want you get.

Thanks for your opinion :) Didn't thought it would be a big deal, since every forum that I've visited over past few years had the tags enabled. Yes, once in awhile there will come someone along that'll abuse the feature, but there are concquentions to that behaviour. Either he'll be banned or get a warning (I thought the warning level system would be implented also?) and that'll send a message to the other people and hopefully they'll draw their conclusions that posting inappropriate images isn't a smart thing to do...

Anyway I'll try a poll and see what'll come from it :)

One question. How was it abused? I have never seen it abused. :)

Back when it was on, we had quite a few annoying pictures posted and even a goatse, if I recall correctly. It was taken off because of this.

hmm.. u know just cause image tags are disabled, does not mean u can't view the image... all u need to do is click the link provided.. or copy and paste..

there was a very good reason why the image tags were disabled as Abom as pointed out.. bottom line: stop being ****ing lazy.. if u really want to view the image, CLICK THE LINK!

its not rocket science...
