Images only saving as Bitmaps

When I go to save a pictutre like an Animated .gif it will only save as a bitmap .bmp (right click on picture > save as) This happens with anything from jpegs, to gifs to anything. Will not allow me to save them as anything but bitmaps. Whats the deal?

Its especially annoying when I want to save some guy's banner add to link on a Website I've made, and it happens to be an animated gif. But what joy, I can only save that .gif to my comp as a .bmp :x

Any ideas? Someone? Anyone?

You could always type the extension in the filename, even if it's set to bitmap, it should save as the proper filetype

I remember hearing about a bug like that in some Windows XP installations awhile back at the tweakxp forums

I had that happend all of sudden once on my XP machine. No settings changes as I recall and my fix was reinstalling OS, not just because of that I hasten to add, that would be anal, but yeah I would have a dig around IE Settings.
