I know this site doesn't allow sig banners because of bandwidth issues (which I found out after searching the forums when I tried to put mine that I worked on for about an hour in), but if you host the image off of a place like www.imageshack.com, would it still eat this site's bandwidth? If it does, what is the point of imageshack?

Nice sig there, i dunno but thems the rules. If you don't like it, you can always go to HLfallout or Hl2w0rld, they allow them, but then also its filled to the brim with the people that got banned here or didn't understand long words like '4 lines only'. Personally i love it this way.

no, I like this site a lot. I was just wondering what the point of imageshack was if it didn't give forums like this one some relief on image hosting.

sigs arent allowe here period, there's a recent thread about it and the reasons why in the site section (at the top of the forum)

They also make pages take a long time to load, and the forum generally looks a lot cleaner without them.

I know...I searched the forums about policy after I realized mine didn't work ...

So hosting on imageshack has no purpose? I don't understand why imageshack would be necessary for anything if it doesn't help with bandwidth problems. Can anyone explain (and yes, I already thoroughly understand the sig rules, that was not the point of this thread)?

It doesn't bother with the site's bandwidth, but large amounts of images make people on modems and whatnot load the page a whole lot slower, even if they're not hosted directly on the site they still have to be loaded.

Also, we've got a very nice, clean looking forum. Images just take up space, and basically tell the world two things:

1) Your username, which you can see anyway
2) you own photoshop.

We don't allow image sigs for more than just bandwidth issues.
they're also difficult/impossible to moderate and make the site look ugly and crap.

There are hundreds of other locked threads on this subject, and this is joining them.
