well many people said that the combine troops are alien, well i´ve discovered one screenshot showing one combine soldier.. here it is:

he have hair of course, or maybe the aliens have hair? dont think so
maybe i m wrong or something, but i just think this might help others
 
LOL you don't think aliens can have hair? why is that?
 
my guess is that they were once human, ie a human army that was taken over, much how headcrabs can take hosts, but maybe by biological experiments.

Would explain why they have guns made on earth

i dont understand why people think that those combine soldiers aren´t human

i think they are the blackops/female assassins that appeared on hl1, i cant remember very well but i think those blackops/assassins had masks too but dunno..

I think theyre human. They talk english aswell. Why would a hostile invasion force both learning english.

Just because they speak english doen't mean they're human. They might to communicate with them about surrendering etc...

it's not proper english because people don't speak in proper english.

a combine soldier who spoke like an english butler would not be scary.

It would be cool if the Combine could read minds, so then they seek out your chosen language, and how you use that language, then they use it to communicate, thats why its not proper english...
OR maybe the earth is so devestated, that its not actually english there talking, but a mix of the language's found on earth, and its all just translated for us.
 
The Alien Slaves learnt a few words in Half Life 1 didn't they?

"Die", mainly. Although it could just have been a random syllable.
 
And more importantly, Nihilanth speaks english. Well, it's not really flawless :dozey: but the current invading aliens could have perfected their speech over the last years, when Gordon was eh, gone.


On the other hand, I really think the combine soldiers are human. They're humans that are enslaved by or collaborate with the aliens.

Enslaved: by a mind-control device, like a big alien with supertelepathic abilities that has them in its power. Could be that you destroy it in the course of the game and the combine soldiers start revolting and fighting along side you.

Collaborate: probably something to do with the alien's resource rampage. perhaps the soldiers think if they help the aliens now, they'll get a piece of the cake later?
 
I don't think the Alien Slaves could talk, but seeing as you'll be alleid with them in this game I'm very interested to see wht they look like and what they're like now they're free!

The funny thing is: I'm the team leader of a mod where you play as one of the HL Black Ops.... and it features events from Hl2... and the plot has been okied by Valve... (in which you fight Combine)... and THE BLACK OPS WORKED FOR GMAN.... and who are you working for in the sequel ? GMAN!!! Argghh, sorry for the rant... but think Before you post :)
 
Maybe the Combine is some gov. or whatever sent to get rid of the aliens, but they also got orders about removing the whole city 17, so Combine fights both humans and aliens. Haven't anyone thought about that?
So the Combine has orders that goes like "retake City 17 at all costs" and they come mashing in with their big fortress of theirs and destroys the town and every living creature in it.
And while trying to take over City 17 they have to battle the aliens..

Who can explain the fact that in the Steam videos when a combine soldier sees Gordon they make a very strange alien sort of sound, and quite usually a beeping kinda noise?
 
Hey remember the writing on the walls in Half-Life 1? They obviously have a hard time spelling...
 
those slave aliens that threw lightning from their hands are going to be in half-life2?? and they're gonna be our allies?? SWEEEEET
 
wait a sec, wasnt it in bugbait were an alien killed a combine and after he did that, attacked gordon???? right in the end of the film..

They are Russian Communists. They only know a little bit of english, the rest is Russian,? or some other communist country, cuz they didn't have an Accent.

What makes you think that aliens can't speak english? Have you ever heard of Al Gore? 'Take me to your leader nmm.'
 
I still cant believe there are people who believe they are all aliens. I mean come on, i dont want to start a fight here but i mean my god.

They have two arms, two legs, head, and torso like us, they even speak english.

I refuse to believe that after valve made up aliens such as bullsquids and antlions they sudenly ran outa ideas and said. "hmmm, i'm all out of ideas now. Lets just make humans and then call them aliens. much simpler." :O. I mean come on people....................



right, rant over. I dont know what they are either :p but i know they are at the very least part humans. It wouldent be right otherwise. imo
 
we won't know untilwe play. First thing I do is getting close to a combine a nd rip of the mask with the manipulator.
 
Didn't the guys at Valve outright say that the Combine was a force of partly aliens, partly humans? Sooo, couldn't they be humans, using alien tech in their suits? Ahyuck!

I mean unless you mean aliens just like "not from this land," i.e. foreign humans. In which case yeah, in all likelyhood they're aliens =3
 
Maybe they are a race of mole people who have risen up from their underground homes to take over the light world above.


Or maybe not...
