In a few hours the Dystopia Demo will be released.

Umm.....yeah it is a mod.

No offense, but surely a moderator such as yourself glances at the HL2.NET front page once in a while?

It's been all over there for probably the better part of a year.
I'm not a content writer so I don't have to look at the main site, and write articles and keep up with mod news, and I'm not a moderator in the halflife2 forums, so it doesn't concern me wether I'm a mod or not...

My personal favorate combo is using light, with stealth, and using katana ONLY. it kickss ass, had a badass score of 30-5 earlier a few mins ago.

Cuz nubs dont know how to get Thermal.
:D
I've been busting "ninjas" left and right.

I hate nubs who are using Heavy suit, its so lame, and soooo for nubs.

I like being the sneaky hacker, although I fine my cloaking more often than not fails me before I get to a safespot.

anyone else get that bug where your view is tilted? I find it happens mostly when you get killed while in cyberspace, but I occasionally got it when I died in real space.

I thought I was taking SS's, but I can't find them :( SO I assume that it's not bound to f5 by default.

And it sucks that my game randomly crashes :(

Amazing quality, well made, cyberspace kicks ass.

Generic, uninspiring gameplay, little to no atmosphere. I hope it grows on me.

Generic gameplay? I already have my fingers nailed on the F# keys and I've been figuring out all sorts of tactics with the different addons.

I retract my statements. Further playing has revealed its way better than I thought at first.

though playing in the dark is fkn annoying, I keep hitting the # keys instead of the f# keys and vice versa :E

Yeah, I found Ion sniping with thermal vision rox.

I love the cortex bomb, right when the enemy is about to kill me I simply smile and run into their dumbasses and blow both of us up. So fun, makes me not fear death, like in any other game.

I love using light, thermal, super jump, invisibility, cortex bomb, and that sound sensor combo. With the shotty setup.

Looks amazing. Only just got round to installing it but I want to play with all of you online sometime!

Hell yeah, maybe a little Dystopia orgy up in here.

A man can dream can't he?

I'm usually mister negativity. But this simply rocks. Just rocks. it's smartr, it's fun. it looks good. Has a few glitches here and there. But combines different kinds of gameplay in a very good and original way. I only hope that if it will be sold, that they will have a retail version or atleast one were you can pay via pay pall.

I thought it was decent.

The main thing was that none of the weapons are really fun to use at all, and the maps seem pre-UT2003 visually as well as layout-wise.

The GUI and all that are pretty cool though.

Just had a game, and it rocks! I had Medium player, The sniper rifle thingy, Medpack and Thermal vision and I was just owning.

Love the game, can't wait for more maps and stuff!

Haha, as a Hidden:Source player, I pwn at detecting ninja's. At least 5 guys have said 'BS how did u see me' :D

pay pal? but i thougt this was a mod!

hm, I'm not a 100% sure but as far as I'm aware you're not allowed to sell a mod independently. Obviously if VALVe want to pick up the mod they can do so and sell it, but this mod team can't go right ahead and sell a download for instance. 80% (if not more) of the code used to create this mod was VALVe's anyway.

I just checked the forums, they say if its a hit, valve might take it with them, but i hope not.

Sry, i should have explained myself. IIRC a mod member said that if the mod proved to be popular they would maybe sell the full version. Now normally I would be like WTF. But you have to realistic, this is a quality mod, that probably cost a lot to develope. I just hope that if the ydecide to sell it, it will be free as a mod to people who own HL2, and the versoin that will be sold will be a stand alone version. Ooh and offcourse Valve would be in on it.

They'd have to either licence the engine from Valve or cut a deal where Valve gets a percentage from every copy sold. As they stand now they can't sell it.

thats my only beef really weapons/effects/sounds and the way they hit others are really kind of ho-hum.. otherwise some fun unique gameplay

Still lovin this game.

You sir, are a douchebag. This game is another freaking CS I swear to god.

"THE ROCKET LAUNCHER IS SO OVERPOWERD!! HEAVIES ARE FOR NEWBS NO SKILL LAWLWERELSRLAERL"

Idiots.

It's a good game... but, I got bored of it too quick.

Besides, going invisible ninja-style, I find the other classes and other variations to be quite uninteresting, I hope in the full version there'll be more implants or some shit.

But the thing I noticed in this game that's real tight is that I saw that many people actually gathered together to rush n shit.

I was on Corps, we were defending the core room, the punks were ramming hard, this invisible ninja comes in with his Cortex bomb and BLOWS UP EVERY SINGLE Corps person in the room before the actual spawn room. Devastating and nice tactics.

I like how there's a wait time for the rocket launcher, it's quite powerful, but it doesn't shoot like something out of Unreal Tournament.

My biggest beef with Dystopia?

TEH CRASHES?! WTF?! gah.

I like Dystopia, but it annoys me how, to some extent, it's what the future would look like in an eighties sci-fi movie. I know that's all part of the cyberpunk thang but it just doesn't seem like that much of a realistic future. Example: the assault rifle. Guns stopped looking like this in WW2.

Just played it for a short time. Didn't understand anything at first I was just running around stealthed and killing people :D . Didn't get to try anything else than the Light class. Cutting down heavy suits with Katana while stealthed was fun.

Must... go... play.. more... (also must install Deus Ex again and play it through)

So, uh...
Was it worth the wait?

Edit :
Played a bit, seems all the servers have major lag though...

Didn't get to try cyberspace as I don't know how to...
The katana's satisfying when cloaked.
And I'm too tired to write up a full review so, blah.

QFE, nothing worse then a good game that crashes every 30 min.

5 even!

And I think the dev team thought about the waves of people attacking a place at once with the wave respawn. I mean, I THINK I've got teh respawn times added down. Thought they change, the most times I see are...

Heavy: +5ish seconds
Medium +3 Seconds
Light +2 seconds

They made it to where everybody would spawn at once, thus, attack together. Natural Selection did this in a way. Was bugged out and would cause fo the Kharaa to wait to be respawned for like 30 seconds while the Hive was under attack. Seemed pretty silly.

Anyway, yeah. I hope the full version brings us some more items. Since they are pretty much done, I don't see it taking too much longer though?

A good game that you here how great it is and it wont even start up.

I've got about 5 hours logged so far, no crashes or lag experienced so far. It's a solid game, and I think they did an excellent game of testing, because there are no MAJOR bugs, like most mods have.
