In all seriousness, how well will this laptop run HL2/CSS?

ATI Radeon 9700mobile 128mb (256 bit it said )
1gb Kingston PC3200 DDR400 RAM
60gb 7200rpm hdd
15.4 widescreen



I'm hoping it plays everything maxed out

Won't play everything maxed. You will be running everything on high (with reasonable framerates), but as soon as you go into high res and high AA/AF the framerate will drop beyond playable.

You'll run the game just fine on high settings. Enjoy. Though I don't see how anyone can enjoy gaming on a laptop, but that's just me. :thumbs:

Your 9700 mobile will perform roughly the same as a 9600 Pro/XT. Since they are different chipsets, the scores will vary some what depending on the game and what resolution you use. Benchmarks with a 9600 Pro/XT will give you an idea of how your laptop will run games.

You be able to play on your laptops full resolution... I'm sure if you have no aa or af, but everything else on high and full quality.. it will look best, have perfect fps.

Damn am I the only pessimist here. If my 9800Pro can run HL2 on 1280x960 with every high, with 4xAA and 8xAF, and get a 45 on the time demo, I'm buying a round for this forum.

[EDIT]: This is what I consider maxing HL2, since anything above 1280 is berely noticable.
