In Defense of the Spy (bring it on Drookles)

Spies are the most powerful class in the game. In fact I think they are too powerful. The reason people scream "omg the spy sucks!" is because the learning curve is extremely steep. I know people who can get 20 kills on one life being a spy. I have never seen a heavy (who is supposed to be the primary killer) get that many kills.

you've never played with me...apparently.

What Pitz is trying to say Glenn, is that he cannot get 20 kills in one life being the spy. He's upset you made this generalization.

I forgot how great it is to stab an engineer just as his sentry becomes level 3. Being quite the engineer myself, I know how great it is to have your greatest structure reach it's peak, to know that you're ready to be the defensive spine of your team. And at that moment, being stabbed in the back, and watching as all your work turns to dust. And I'm the guy who stabbed him.

Concurance.
There's just one problem; you guys are stating right here what you don't want them to know! You have to be smarter than the enemy to win as spy, and win you let them know what you're doing you've pretty much lost the game right there.

Unless what we said were actually tricks to trick you into thinking we were going to trick you so that we could trick you in another way. See what I'm saying? And I said I like to play as a pyro better.

I swear Pyro's have a sixth sense with catching Spies, they're ****ing dicks.

I knew you'd say that.

Ahahaha!

Primary killer...

Its nice to know you have nothing to offer the argument.

Sorry to burst your bubble but getting kills on Mario_cart on a 100% crit server doesn't count.

In all seriousness, you might have pulled it off. Though the fact that I haven't seen it once the whole time I have been playing is pretty significant.

My flatmate has managed >20 kills as heavy with me healing him. Stage 3 Cap 1 Dustbowl.

Valve never intended any one to be primary killer. It's a class based game meaning there needs to be some balance, and it is balanced fairly well.

...but we've all played with someone who's an ace at being a spy, and they can really turn the tide of the game (especially if they're using their mic and cooperating with everyone). It is possible to do very well with the spy, I think it takes a style of play that not a lot of people are either capable of or are unwilling to learn.

i played with someone who was a sentry destroying monster....if you were an engineer you were screwed.

I wish they could just take that and turn it into the real Meet the Spy.

The heavy was created to deal out as well as take the most damage. It was meant to get the most kills of all the other classes.

The lack of speed and the spin up time for the mini gun is what keeps it balanced with the rest of the classes.

The idea that the spy can deal out more damage then the heavy is ridiculous. The spy is meant disrupt the enemy covertly, disabling things, killing important targets, ect. When one spy can take out half the team by himself, it does make one wonder. Keep in mind, it is VERY hard to do this, because like I said last time, the learning curve is very steep. Even though it is steep, there are many players out there who can do this.

Why are you arguing with me anyways? I agree that the spy is an extremely powerful class, which was the whole point of this thread.

I would say that this is where the balance comes in.

If a good heavy and a good spy both went out with one objective (getting kills) i would say that they would get the same amount.

The heavy can deal out a lot of damage, but is slow and easy to hit.

The spy can deal a lot of damage with backstab if he is precise, but can't take much damage. His stealth makes up for this.

The heavy was not created to deal out the most damage, although yeah, naturally he takes the most.

Yes, this is true. Those things cause him to be balanced by decreasing his kills and damage delivered, and increasing his deaths and damage decieved.

The Spy can dish out 1200 damage and four kills in 3 seconds in the right situation. But wait, now you seem to be saying the exact opposite of what the first sentence is, so **** it, whatever your point is it must be stupid.

I never said the Heavy is or was intended to be the primary killer, which is what I'm arguing against.

Let me make this simple for you: You are incapable of following my simple argument as you have just proved above. So it sounds like you are just arguing for the sake of arguing and making yourself look more like an idiot.

Congratulations.

Then how do you explain that the spy can kill a heavy with one hit? Is that ridiculous?

You should follow sheepo and reread the what I am saying again. Maybe you will get what I am saying.

Oh, the "You're such an idiot I just give up because you won't understand" argument, yeah, that always works. And when the majority of the people don't understand what you're saying, the fault's probably not with them.
What you are trying to say.

What you are actually saying.
