In hl2 will you be able to switch detail levels?

In FarCry and Ut2k4, you could change the level of detail on textures, lighting, shadows, characters, etc... Will you be able to do this with hl2? Or will it be like hl1 where its basically a set level of detail.

HL2 will scan you computer for the appropriate components, and compensate automaticly.

I hope its like ut2k4, So many things were customizable that you could find the right highs and lows to make the game look good with decent fps for your video card. Assuming you don't have top of the line.
