I see a lot of posts regarding darkness in the game. I have no doubt Half Life was an awesome game, and so is HL2, except for the fact that the flashlight is worthless. There have been at least two points in the game where I cannot see a thing. In the real world, light will reflect so you can actually visualize surroundings. I have been in total darkness on quite a few occassions, and it is no fun in a game as praised and as expensive as this. Is this a problem for everyone, or is it that I need an even newer computer (I have a one year old computer with a 2.4gHz processor) to see where I am going? Can anyone help me so that I can get out of these dark areas (I am in an area with a red light and have just crowbarred my way thru a vent into complete darkness)? It is not that the whole game is dark, it is very bright when I am 'outside'.

you think thats bad, try playing Doom3..... :dozey:

I adjust brightness from level to level by using ATI card hotkeys in several games, HL2 and Counterstrike: Source being two examples.

ATI Display Settings-->Color-->Full Screen 3D-->Hotkeys and set up some hotkeys for brightness, contrast and gamma.

This is on an ATI card, however. I don't know what you have. There may be an NVidia equivalent of this option.

Like I said to someone else with a darkness problem, I can make even Doom3 look bright with those. :smoking:

Have you tried turning the brightness levels in the options menu? I have had no problems with the torch in HL2 in fact I found it very good.

do u have one of those crappy intigrated cards that dont have T&L so u cant u a teh flashlight
