Ineffective War on Terror

It would be helpful if America actually concentrated on evidence instead of conjecture. Such as the attempt at linking Saddam to Bin Laden, for ever person saying there was a link there was 10 people saying there was no proof of such a link. If America had concentrated on what it set out to do, remove the Taliban and capture the people training in the camps, instead of attacking Iraq, maybe they would have done some damage to the extremist's cause.

That was done because there was evidence supporting it.

Evidence which is now, basically bullshit. Real reform starts at home.

Yes but why did they believe the tiny bit of bullshit over the mountain of truth?

I dunno. If you saw what was presented to them than you would probably have made the same judgement. Guess neither of us can say.

Northern Ireland

Violence erupted at the close of the Apprentice Boys' parade in Derry on 12 August, and the 'Battle of the Bogside' ensued. The police could no longer cope and troops were brought in on active service in Derry on 14th August starting the deployment of British troops into Ireland. During the troubles more than 3,000 people were killed, most of them civilians.

Example.

January: 'Bloody Sunday': Thirteen Catholic protesters die after being shot by troops from the 1st Battalion the Parachute Regiment following disturbances during a banned civil rights march in Londonderry.
Response.
July: Nine people are killed when 22 bombs explode in Belfast. This became known as 'Bloody Friday'. The IRA was held responsible.

In 1998 the Good Friday Agreement was signed with a great deal of support from America.

Israel has long sought a peaceful northern border. But Lebanon's position as a haven for terrorist groups has made this impossible. In March 1978, PLO terrorists infiltrated Israel. After murdering an American tourist walking near an Israeli beach, they hijacked a civilian bus. The terrorists shot through the windows as the bus travelled down the highway. When Israeli troops intercepted the bus, the terrorists opened fire. A total of 34 hostages died in the attack. In response, Israeli forces crossed into Lebanon and overran terrorist bases in the southern part of that country, pushing the terrorists away from the border. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) withdrew after two months, allowing United Nations forces to enter. But UN troops were unable to prevent terrorists from reinfiltrating the region and introducing new, more dangerous arms.
Violence escalated with a series of PLO attacks and Israeli reprisals. Finally, the United States helped broker a ceasefire agreement in July 1981. The PLO repeatedly violated the cease-fire over the ensuing 11 months. Israel charged that the PLO staged 270 terrorist actions in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza, and along the Lebanese and Jordanian borders. Twenty nine Israelis died and more than 300 were injured in the attacks

The Camp David agreement, fully supported by America.

I apologies for this long and rambling post but the point I am trying to make is that US does have the political might rather than just the military might to fight terrorism.
The figures seem to show and history also seems to show that fighting fire with fire is not always the best approach

Imagine how many terrorist attacks there would be without the war on terror. I bet you'd have a hard time using your statistics to back that up.

Speaking of statistics... where did you get these numbers from?

lol dude ur so ignorent :x

Why is he ignorant? He asked a ****ing question. Why does everyone have to be a ****stick? I hate politics, I should never go into it, I'll end up killing everyone.

I blame it on all religions.

Especially the Muslim one
Then explain Stern's problem (nothing personal, just using you as an example).

Terrorism has always been around
It was merely a case of when and not if America would be struck
Its ties very nicely with America simply needing a new enemy since the end of the Cold War
the longer the war lasts the happier the military and political establishment will be - more spending, focus and an enemy
More attacks havent happened in the united states because they wouldn't have anyway regardless of the post 9-11 response.
Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia were where the military and political battles should have been fought - not Iraq

I agree. I want this bastards dead. Why are we feeding them? Huh? Where are the ****ing results? WHERE THE **** ARE THEY?
No offense but thats how the terrorists solve their problems. Going out and killing the terrorists is only going to feed them with more material for propaganda

Christians-Muslims
Protestants-Catholics

Does this prove God exists? Are we pawns in an ever changing world? Where you responsible? Was your next door responsible?

Why are those stupid muslims or whatever "being terrorists"? It's bullshit, and it's their own fault that their life sucks. There are so many reports of terrorist attacks EVERY DAY that I don't even care what happens in Afghanistan anymore. The U.S. should just nuke all the god damn areas that are potential terrorist hives.

glad you're not it charge ...it'd be the holocaust all over again ...maybe gas chambers would be more efficiant? ...what with nuclear fallout and all that ..not too mention contaminated oil ..god knows you cant **** up your precious spoils of war

So does this mean the end for terrorist-ridden LA, Detroit, Washington DC..............

Maybe it IS having a HUGE impact on the number of terrorist attacks, YOU or I simply dont know that,

:| :| :| :| :| :| :| :| :| :| :| :| :| :| :| :| :|

there is no maybe, there are triple the number of attacks, these numbers are fact, and they prove it. Its a huge impact, but it's a negative one (unless of course you have something, anything, that proves that the war on terror is decreasing terrorism)

so we arent in a position to use one dimensional "statistics" (of which you still havent shown the source)

one dimensional? They are from the National Counterterrorism Center, NCTC, an arm of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). 2004 saw terror activities growing to appalling dimensions. Besides slaying 1907 people in 2004, terrorist attacks also wounded an outrageous number of 6,704 people, almost double 2003’s figure of 3,646. Obviously, the number of terrorist attacks had also increased from to 175 in 2003 to a colossal 651 in 2004.

since you apparently don't believe the NCTC, here are a few articles that mention it, and feel free to read the official report.

now you go ahead and find me some statistics that show the war on terror CUT terrorist attacks, instead of tripling them :dozey:

unless bush visits gh0st personally and says "look, I lied kid, shut up already" he'll never relent on his steadfast but ultimately ignorant defense of what he feels is right ...despite the mountain of evidence

Excellent idea, here's a list
http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0908746.html

or even better heres a list of countries with WMD

http://www.fas.org/irp/threat/wmd_state.htm

please....

Of course the list is bullshit, it's not my list ,it was a list compiled in 2000 by the Federation of American scientists.

They justified it - the site is obviously really old
Click on the icons to reveal the inspection reports which state that Saddam possessed no weapons in 1998 - just the capability to produce them - iraq did have a nuclear reactor programm

i didnt realize the US has the authority to attack a country because they have nuclear reactor programs. how dare they try to use an energy source.

What a surprise, one would think that displeasing people all around the world by fighting war and a horrible foreign policy would reduce terrorism.

"Hey! Lets make people less pissed at us by killing them!"

haha, exactly.

americans have this egotistical (and bigoted) viewpoint that America is so great, how can these people not love us and our way of life, as the numbers show, they didnt like it before we invaded, and they ****ing hate us now (three times as much hatred at least ). but dont tell that to the flag wavers...
