or rather my dads insane conspiracy theory.

--------------------------------------------------------------

He reckons that this whole "source" thing is a scam.

No one makes the game and answers emails on the same computer witch is vurnerable to attack ESPECIALY a microsoft ex employee.

He says That valve have screwed the pooch at some big point and the game is buggered so they have to delay it till 04 and this is a way to delay the game without making valve seem like knobs.

and after Valve lied to the community by saying right up until the 24th that it was on time only to be delayed till christmass, why should we belive anything valve says? theyve already proven that there willing to screw over the fans

----------------------------------------------------------------------

it sorta makes sence to me.

let the valve fanboys commence the flaming......

well i make a point of not arguing with him cos hes usualy right.

Thats scary.

Not the theory. the fact that i thought the exact same before i read this. I thought they realsed a fake code to buy them some more time to finish the game then i come here to post it but read you saying it first.

Wierd but good post

chances are no because the havok engine was released with it and they can be sued for something like that.

pfft

That's balony, How many fruckinging computers do you think they have? If they work on a computer, probably on a few, then they will use it for most of their functions in that session.

<initiate sarcasm mode>
I'm really sure that they have an ENTIRE computer set aside JUST for email. Forget that that machine would still be on the same network, giving it the same access to the network, and would also be behind the same firewall(s) as the other computers. If it was a different computer, which it may have been, it's still a security breach INTO the network, not just the computer, you tard.

I don't know.
I was thinking along the same lines too.
It seems pretty stupid for a developer to have the FULL resourcecode
on a computer that's connected to the network.
Why don't we hear from other developers having the same problem ?

You hear beta-versions being leaked, but never (for the exception : Falcon 4.0 was the first to whom this happened) the whole sourcecode.

So, it mkes sense to me, that - maybe - they deliberately leaked something to buy them more time for developing Halflife 2 further.
I hope his isn't the case.

And if this is not the case, i hope they catch the hacker and let him burn in Hell.
In that case the Hackercommunity is responsible or delaying or even cancelling one of the greatest games ever.

I hope it all turns out ok, maybe the one who stole the code will have regrets and return it tto Valve
