Just huddle around your PS3 and plasma tv to keep warm in the winter.
I fear for the future of consoles (and PC's for that matter) when the cooler takes up that much space. :|
The reason it's that big makes it quieter than the 360... the fan is bigger, has more blades, so it can spin slower. That alluminium heatsink with the heatpipes has a massive surface area, and the way the air is pulled through it from that huge slow-spinning fan is what makes the whole thing such a quiet efficient cooler. The PS3 is bigger and weighs a lot more as a result, but on the whole i'd rather have a bigger quieter console than a small noisy one. I think i'll wait for the price to drop a lot before buying one though.Holy f*ck!! That fan is HUGE!!! Its actually pretty amazing that even with a fan like that the PS3 is still quieter than the 360!
I took a friend's PS2 apart one time (dreaded disc read error). I don't know why we took it apart. We couldn't fix anything. I guess since it was already screwed, we were just curious. Anyway, we put it back together. We flipped it over and all I hear is a huge crash inside and it felt like the whole inside just dropped. I looked on the table and there was 9 screws we forgot.
