hi, i think this is the right place to psot this. wen i put in my rtcw disc i click on install and it jsut crashes straight away, i leave it and it does nothing :s help would be appreciated

might be some knackered windows install files, it can sometimes happen.. Or try it on another CD drive, it could be your drive thats a bit iffy. Though scratched CD is still possible, sometimes its hard to see scratches or grease marks. Give it a good clean with a proper CD cleaning cloth or something and see if that helps

If you do all of that and it still doesn't work you can try killing the various things you have in the background, just in case something is causing a conflict. I've also seen spyware/viruses that can cause that sort of thing to happen so you could grab Adaware/Spybot and a virus utility and scan. Good Luck!

yep I agree with that, Adaware and Spybot are really useful, I've both installed, overkill heh, Noodly just reminded me something too, about other apps that might be running, have you got any Norton programs installed? They can be notorious for things like this

nah, i have mcaffee virus scan and spybot. ill try to close everything, if i click on apps, in the alt-control-delete menu, can i close the system applications aswell?

swap his and your CD drives.. maybe it is that? I had one once and eventually certain CD's just refused to work correctly, I thought cause they'd been scratched or damaged in some way, ended up getting a new drive and suddenly they all worked fine

Failing that, then I really don't know, maybe corrupt windows files, I dunno.. probably a really simple explaination we're missing though, usually the way right :)

hmm, i tried it in my dvd drive aswell as my cd drive and it didnt work, so yeh, its probabaly some crappy windows problem. o well, thanks alot anyway

ok, sorry I couldn't help :( hope you get it sorted, post again on here if you do, be interesting to see what caused it :)
