I figured we'd try to make a neat topic where one can list titles that they think people should look into that either have come out or are scheduled to come out this year!

It does not matter what platform the title is on or if it's freeware, indie and so forth.

Please be as detailed possible so people can easily look up the game themselves if you don't feel like digging up a link.

I'll start with a few that come to mind for me right now.

Listing as: Developer - Game (Platforms)

Splash Damage - Brink (PC/XB360/PS3)

CD Projekt RED - The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings (PC)

Rocksteady Studios - Batman: Arkham City (PC/XB360/PS3)

SCE Studios Japan(Team ICO division) - The Last Guardian (PS3)

Naughty Dog Software - Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (PS3)

Frozenbyte - Trine 2 (PC/XB360/PS3)

Wolf Mittag(Indie dev) - DARGHUL (PC)

Valve - Portal 2 (PC/XB360/PS3)

I don't particularly want to include sequels to games i've already played as they seem more like dead certs than interesting curiousities to me :p

In no real order:

WadjetEye Games - Gemini Rue (PC)

Gearbox - Duke Nukem Forever (PC/360/PS3)

Team Bondi - LA Noire (360/PS3)

Splash Damage - Brink (PC/360/PS3)

CD Projekt RED - The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings (PC)

Crystal Dynamics - Tomb Raider (Reboot) (PC/360/PS3)

2K Marin - XCOM (Reboot) (360/PC)

DoubleBear Productions - Dead State (PC)

Ubisoft - From Dust (PC/XBLA/PSN)

FuelCell Games - Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet (XBLA)

ThatGameCompany - Journey (PSN)

People can Fly - Bulletstorm
Bioware - Mass Effect 3 (if it really is going to be realeased this year)
Gearbox - Douk Noukem

Portal 2 and probably some indie games I've never heard of before.
And port goddamn RDR to PC Rockstar!

EDIT: Oh sorry Garg, don't have anything useful to add to the list :p

IO Interactive - Hitman 5 (TBC)

Eidos Montreal - Thief 4 (TBC)

Whats TBC mean? To be cancelled? Thats very pessimistic of you.

Games I'm legitimately interested in this year:
Portal 2
DNF
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
the Shadow of the Colossus and Ico re-release
Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad.

Games that I'm quasi-interested in
L.A. Noire
Spec Ops: The Line
The Witcher 2
Dragon Age 2
Max Payne 3
Hitman 5
Shogun 2: Total War
Uncharted 3

Thats assuming Mass Effect 3 and Skyrim don't come out this year. Both of those would be in the first section.

TBC means To Be Confirmed as far as I know.

Also, come on guys, don't any of you know of any more niche titles coming out this year that aren't that well-known?

For me, the must-buys this year are:
Portal 2
Brink
Guild Wars 2
Deus Ex
Elder Scrolls V
Test Drive Unlimited 2

Others I'll probably get:
Duke Nukem
L.A. Noir
Shogun 2
Crysis 2
Max Payne 3?

Games I'm excited about, assuming they fulfill their original release dates(nudge nudge wink wink Valve):

Valve - Portal 2 (PC/X360/PS3)
Guerrilla Games - Killzone 3 (PS3)
Bethesda Game Studios - Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (PC/X360/PS3)
Naughty Dog Software - Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (PS3)
Eidos Studios - Deus Ex: Human Revolution (PC/X360/PS3)

Games I'll probably end up getting but somewhat less interested about:

BioWare - Dragon Age 2 (PC/X360/PS3)
Creative Assembly - Shogun II: Total War (PC)

Games that some of you fellows might want to know about that I'm probably not getting (wink wink nudge nudge Xbox 360):

Epic Games - Gears of War 3 (X360)
NeatherRealm Studios - Mortal Kombat (X360/PS3)
People Can Fly - Bulletstorm (PC/X360/PS3)
Id Software - Rage (PC/X360/PS3/Mac/iPhone)

Uh, Rock of Ages looks fun, and Subversion, which probably isnt coming out this year.

ACE - Rock of Ages
FatShark - Hamilton's Great Adventure

Observe this thread I made for further details.

Edit: Damn you Kurnn.

Very nice recommendations, I can't believe I didn't list Subversion myself.

Sheepo, I have had that thread saved in my FireFox primary session since you made it, mostly for the Rock of Ages game though.

Episode 3 - I take it nobody thinks it'll be out this year? I was hopin'.

My shortlist of games that I'm looking forward to is pretty boring/predictable:

Duke Nukem Forever, Shogun 2: Total War, Bulletstorm, Rage, Portal 2, Crysis 2, Brink, and Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad.

Also to correct you guys - Bulletstorm is not by People Can Fly, it's by Epic Games and People Can Fly. Cliff Bleszinski (when I visited Epic's studio a few months ago, I referred to him as CliffyB when we saw his office and the tour guide informed me he's grown up some and prefers to go by Cliff these days) is the creative director / design lead. Also, Epic owns People Can Fly, so they are really technically both Epic.

Mostly these:

TES: Skyrim - PC
RAGE - PC

But these too:

Rockstar's console leftovers??
Guild Wars 2 - PC
Bulletstorm - PC
Hitman - PC
Brink - PC
DNF - PC

I want whatever ends up being good. There now I have the best list.

Well, he did have an autographed poster of Snooki in his office... seriously.

To correct you guy - Epic does not own People Can Fly, they have a majority share in the company, but they don't completely own it.

Also, you lucky s.o.b.

You guys have metioned alomst all of the games I have been looking forward to, but here are a few that are coming to my shores this year...or that I REALLY hope will be. :)

Mistwalker - The Last Story (Wii)
Level-5 - Ni no Kuni (DS)
Level-5 - Ni no Kuni (PS3)
Namco Bandai - Tales of Xillia (PS3)
Rockstar North - Agent (PS3)
Cranberry Studios - Black Mirror 2 (PC)
WizarBox - Gray Matter (PC)

If holding a majority share in a corporation doesn't constitute ownership, then what does? Epic runs People Can Fly and calls all of the shots.

Look at the bottom of the page. The copyright notice is for Epic Games, Inc.

I guess you are right, I am just nitpicking.

I just got confused by recently ran articles about Konami gaining complete ownership of Hudson Soft, in which case Konami has had the majority of shares in the company since 2001, but didn't acquire all shares until now, and several sites worded it in such a way that I assumed one didn't generally say that the company was owned by another company until all shares were owned by the other company.

But, I accept that I was wrong and I'll just go sit in the corner like I always do.

Also, VictimOfScience, are you sure Agent is coming out this year? Last I heard of it was E3 '09.

No mention for Dark Souls (DEMON'S SOULS 2 IN OTHER WERDS) yet?

****.

what about mods, there are ALOT of good one (but most or like 2 out of 10 )

Gads. What an ass am I. How could I forget this?? The details released today sound ****ING PHENOMENAL. I really didn't understand how they could possibly top DS because it is and always will be one of the greatest games I have ever played, but it sounds like they are besting it in almost every aspect!!! Good call, Bam. +rep

Oh, and inFamous 2 looks pretty damn incredible too. Again, it looks to best every single thing about the first one, so I can't wait for that either!!

Skyward Sword, come on people any decent nintendo fan.................. and by that the few of us who played the first NES games and Nintendo 64, the golden age of gaming
