Internet 10 years ago

Hehe that reminds me I just saw the movie Hackers. It was pretty hysterical to see the hackers get super excited over the laptop the girl had.

Look guys this has a 28.8 kbps modem!
TFT Matrix display!
12 in screen!

Hehe I like how they present the pc rotating 360° as if it were some sort of savior.

am i the only one finding the "emoticons" presentation hilarious? :D

LOL they have the Swedish flag and say "Stein in Oslo" Oslo is the capital of Norway..

LOL. He said there wasn't alot of cussing on the internet, etc.

By the way when did it start being called 'the' internet instead of just 'internet'?

wiee techno dad :D

I bought a 14.4k modem in 1993 for my 486 sx25, and connected to a few BBS'es, since it was more fun at the time than the 'internet', which was just a collection of frameless pages you couldnt really find... and there was no google, used webcrawler instead :)

Also used some telnet based talkers, still do now and then. Beats IRC :D

Funny video tho, heh

Haha, I love it when he says (around 2:30) that the internet was a very friendly place where people don't swear, flame and put people down... hilarious!

Yeah, then the CS kids get let loose :| oh, and AOL.

Just curious, but how old were all you guys in 92/94? Bet most of you were little tots.

I was 12/14

10/11 years old but there were no CS lamers to corrupt me, so I hung around on telnet talkers and bulletin boards being rather nice. No leet in sight :)

What ISPs did you use back then (if you had 'internet' all them years ago)?

I had Pipex when it first started up... now thats an old ISP.

I used to download game demos from bbs(on my superb 386), always fun when my mom saw the telephone bill :)
the only thing she used the modem for was faxing...

I remember my Dad and his first colour monitor. Man, we had some real good times on that, what with the games of the day.

I was 5/7. I remember my dad getting internet when I was in elementary school (3rd or 4th grade?), but I never really used it much until around late middle school.

Seems like the internet started as an IRC.

Funny video.

Love those stupid emoticons lol.

I was 8-10

But I remember when I was about 5, having a commodore 64-128 and all the wonderous games for it.

It was like being at the arcade, at home! :D
