So, I just ordered a pizza off the internet. Again. And I've just bought another birthday present off the internet. Again. Infact, there's hardly anything left that can't be bought off the internet. It's just lazyness, damnit.

When you let a machine do a mans job, you take something away from the man. So ... we're evolving into degenerate lazy swines, and it's all because of the internet.

Does a birthday present mean less to you if it only took the person 5 minutes to click 'buy' and 'gift wrap and send to other address', having already been selected by the website as a 'reccommended gift for this AVERAGE person' ...

Well, I think it does mean less. Maybe we should ban the internet. Discuss.

It means the same to me, as long as its not a shitty present. :P

The computer has yet to learn how to swill beer, leer at ladies, and sleep in at weekends. They're yet to take away the key constituents of being a man.

Beer on draught via the internet! Now there's a thought...

Meh.

How is it more lazy with comparing ordering a pizza. Yes, a PC is lazier than dialing a phone number. With the gift thing, I can understand. But you save money if you order it online. All you pay is shipping. If you bought it at the store, it'd cost more and you'd pay for gas.

I don't know... theres a sense of achievement you get by actually doing things yourself ... clicking a mouse and having things done for you (however convenient) just removes all the joy.

OK, the pizza reference was a bad one, but for everything else ...

For example ... When I see someone open a gift that I bought them off the internet, I don't feel like I was actually responsible for selecting, wrapping, going out and physically getting the gift ... It feels like someone else bought them the gift, like its not from me at all. I almost feel guilty.

Now compare that with seeing someone open a gift that you physically went shopping for, spent some time, picked it out and wrapped it, etc. It just feels better.

The internet is slowly stealing your joy.

This all depends on your situation, for example, say it's bucketing down outside. You wouldn't want ot go down to the kebab shop/Italian for your pizza.
Quite convenient though, if you were working on the computer, on a roll and wanted sustenance in the form of dough, cheese, tomato, ham and pineapple.

Besides, It's more fun buying pizza en route home when you're pissed.

I cannot order online from Pizza Hut. They are not allowed to deliver for online ordering. That is not cool.

I was going to write a gigantic explanation about how the story of Uplink (By Introversion Software) may come true in a few years time, but I just can't be arsed :p

computers are meant to increase productivity, I say they maintain productivty but just let us slack off for hours a day.

They definetly increase productivity and still allow you to be lazy. Think about it. You have 4 gifts to buy. You know what to get but you do not want to waste effort/money on gas to purchase them. So you order online. A total of 10-15 minutes pass while you order those gifts. Bam! You are done. In what could have taken an hour or even more, took 15 min. Good job computer. You FTW.

You could even have been masturbating the entire time!

Um no because you still had to work for the money or whatever the means to buy it.

Depends what it is. It's as meaningful as the thought put into it, doesn't matter how you get it.

Edit - Oh wait, random gift. LOL, you feil at sentimentality.
