Ok got two major problems relating to Bit Torrent. Since my brother has gone back to college I guess this is the best time to try and get the network problems fixed.

1.) Bit Torrent/Azereus will completely shutdown any connection on our router. When it is downloading, I cannot surf the web, neither can anyone else on the router use the internet. It does not matter what I set the upload to, I can upload at a max of 30kbps and even when I just set it to 5kbps it still just stops all internet traffic on the network. Like if I am playing a game online, I can tell within 1 minute if my brother is downloading a game demo because I will lose my connection, as soon as he closes BT it will come right back.

2.) Ok this is a weird one, my IP will actually switch between 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.3 randomly. The first time this happened was when we had a brownout, my brothers computer as well as mine go out, when we boot em back up it says something about 'IP already in use' or something like that. So I just did a simple reset and it was back. The problem with this is that BT will only work good for me when I open the ports up, problem is that when I set it up on the router I tell it which IP to open the ports. So randomly BT will act horrible for me and it ends up being that its told to open ports for .3 when it switched back to .2 for me, I cannot open ports for both the IPs because it will give me an error about duplicate ports.

I use Azereus 24/7 since 5 months ago, not even one single problem I have till this second. I use software firewall.

to use Azereus you need to disable the firewall (always)

Are you sure their is nothing wrong with your computer (viruses and what not)? I've never heard of a computers IP address just magically switching on you. Then again, I am not a network wizard.

Umm, the Azereus problem is probably because you forgot to cap the speeds. I get that if I get too much down and/or up speeds, usually the latter. So I capped it at 13 kb/s, works like a charm for my 512 kbit up :)

how do you switch off firewall?

Obviously it depends on which firewall you have. Most common is to simply click the icon in the taskbar (To the right), and click shut down or close, and poof, firewall down.

I get the problem with the internet shutting down. There is absolutely no work around for it, it happens because these people that design the P2P software insist on using a NAT interface, and if you connect to the internet through a router on a network like you and me, then it's just something that cannot be helped. I don't know why, but it will work on some networks but not others.

I can forwards ports until the cows come home but I still can't use any of these new P2P programs. My network simply will not work with a NAT interface.
