Does anyone else have one?

I bought one last night and I am in love with it...it's so perfect.

If you have the means I highly suggest picking one up.

(Ferris Bueller quote)

which model? how much?...waiting for them to drop in price

sweet, good price. did you get it at best buy? that seems to be the price they have advertised

ipods are sweet, but when will I ever listen to 10,000 songs at one sitting??

i've got the 20GB version. comes with the dock, case and a few other things. got it for £250 :D. ITS GREAT !!! theyre so incredible. i didnt know what the fuss was about, but i got to use someone elses for the first time, and bought one the next day. theyre just THAT good. i'm really impressed :). infact, i only got it last tuesday.

Yeah, I got a 20 gig like Crushenator, but I got mine for £300. Its great and I've got a least hundreds of hours of use out it. Definently worth the money. Going to buy a gadget for it called sommat like iTrix, not sure if thats what its called. You can basically listen to the ipod on a tape deck or hi-fi or whatever without a cable.

iTrip? if so, then yeah, i DEFINATELY want one :). lets you use the ipod instead iof cds and things. like in the car, you can play the iPod through the radio.

and is it just mine, or is the battery symbol a bit jumpy. i leave it plugged into the charger overnight, get it out, and theres like one battery band showing up :|. i keave it a few mins, and it slowly builds up. it does a few different things as well. its a bit useless.

Mine does that it seems. It's kinda like when you fill a car up with gas it takes a little while for the gauge to fully fill up. :)

I want an iTrip too, but I don't think they had them at the place I bought my iPod (Future Shop, which is the Canadian Best Buy I believe, same company).

Crushenator, I was the same way...I didn't know they were so awesome until I used one at school...it was love at first touch.

The iPod + iTrip is so awesome because it's better than buying those like $400+ 5 CD Changers...you can fit all of your music on it at once...and not bother burning cds everytime you hear a good song you want to play in the car....or anywhere for that matter.

Personally I've never been tempted with an I-Pod.

If someone were to release an mp3 player that used the 8cm 1.4gb DVD-R's that cost about 80pence each, that would be more tempting to me, because frankly I dont need my whole music collection with me in one go and 1.4gb = 12/14 albums @ 192kbps (ish).

Ipods are very slick.
No worry about what songs are with you or switching them for the songs you want with other MP3 players.
It's just click scroll play.
Very nice interface and features as well. Not just the simple 3 line display (track, artist, time).

I'm just curious. What's better about an Ipod then other cheaper MP3 players on the market? Other than the fact they have a huge advertising campaign?

What do you do with 20 Gb of storage space? I could put almost everything song I own on an Ipod. Does it make it easy to store/sort/access songs on your Ipod?

you could hook up your ipod to your home stereo. You'd have your entire music library at the touch of a button, no more changing cd's

I have the 10gb one (without deck and whatever), mines crashes sometimes :(
itunes is so annoying and also if its not in the library on your hd it will be deleted from your ipod, with winamp5 there is an option wich disables that (coudnt find it with itunes, anyone?)

my record for paratrooper is 211, that game is a very addictive classic =))

I bought an iRiver iHP-120 (recently renamed to "H120") a while back and I would never go back to an iPod (I had one, but I returned it). It was cheaper (retails for $70 less), it is black with silver accents, it has a 20GB HD, the battery lasts almost twice as long without recharging, it has a built-in FM radio, optical in/out, line in/out, real-time MP3 encoding while recording, it can display text files, it supports MP3/WMA/ASF/OGG/WAV, and new features/formats will be added in firmware updates (for example, in the last update they added support for song lyrics that scroll while the song plays and some bug fixes). Oh yeah, did I mention that the sound quality is "scrumtralescent."

It may not be for everyone...

I have a 10 gigabyte iPod that I bought a month after the new third-generation models came out. I battery died about ten months later, and I sent it back to get a new one. I also have the case. My only complaints are the shitty battery life and how easily it can be scratched.

I'm looking to buy a minidisk player. I'd buy an ipod but they're just so damn expensive. Which is better? a minidisk player or a standard solid state mp3 player?

I have one of the new 4GB 'mini' iPods... it's pretty spiffy... I think it could use better headphones, though... and it's always mysteriously cold to the touch...

Do 10 GB iPods exist?

All I see is 15, 20 and 40.

The things I love about iPod is:

- No more cds are needed, ever (once I get iTrip anyways)
- Awesome display and control. Very user friendly, easy to sort through songs.
- Space is not an issue.
- The look of it is cool.

Things I didn't like about my iPod:

- Price, and price of accessories.

They don't make 10 gb models anymore. As I said, I got mine about a month after they debuted.
Oh yeah, I also hate those cheap-ass headphones. Mine broke six months later, and I'll be damned if I pay $40 for another pair.

It will only delete it on iPod if you have it set to auto-sync your iPod with your Library.

Right click on your iPod in iTunes and you can select to not auto-sync it.

Oh one complaint and I almost had with my iPod was that it didn't come with usb cable...if I didn't have firewire I'd be screwed (not all people do have firewire...well maybe my new computer has it, but I use the one on my sound-card)

just make sure you don't go crazy and bludgen someone to death with it like that woman in america.

cuh-ray-zee

there was a woman in america who, when her husband deleted all 15, 000 of her mp3's on her ipod, proceded to bludgen him to death with it.

so, as i said before - cuh-ray-zee

I'm guessing he like movied the music to a different folder, or deleted the music by accident and it auto-sync'd, deleting it on the iPod too.

Or he did it on purpose for vengence.

Ipods are quite sweet, alas I don't have the cash to buy one.

My parents just got me a 20 gig iPod for graduating high school. The headphones blow but the rest completely rocks my face off. I LOVE THIS THING. I got it custom engraved for free. It looks wicked in low light.

Also what I like about iPod is the games. It gives you something to do, while waiting.

They have just or are just releasing a new model called the H320, it's virtually the same as the H120, but it doesn't have the optical connections and it doesn't support wav. But it has USB on the go, a 2inch lcd color display 16h of battery life and the same, if not better audio quality.

I've got one of these babies on pre-order, 475€, H120 here is about 415€

Yeah, I've heard about those. Even if they were both out when I bought it I would probably stick with the H120. I don't need a color screen or the USB on the go, and I have some high-end devices that use the optical connections. Also, I occasionally use uncompressed WAV files when I don't want to lose the little details of the audio in the compression process.

Now, if the H320 could play DivX movies on that color screen (and slap some composite/component/s-video jacks on it to play it on a TV) it would be a different story! :E

watching movies on an audio jukebox seems kind of like overkill. staring at a two-inch screen for two hours? come on.

I thought the part about slapping three different types of video output jacks (in addition to the rest of the stuff on that tiny device) would be a dead giveaway for a joke. It was meant to poke fun at portable audio device manufacturers that keep trying to one-up the competition and their own previous products by adding more and more features that people don't need on an audio player (and cell phones, for that matter).
