Will HL2 have iron sights? I've looked and looked but didn't find anything about it. I like 'em, both in American Army Ops and Call of Duty. Helps the immersion.

Iron sights are evil.. fits wartime games, I suppose, but wouldn't really fit a game like HL2

Ironsights would be horrible in HL2. They would be much better suited to an Uber-realism game, not sci-fi.

most of the guns in hl/hl2 wouldn't seem like ironsights would be very fun, except maybe the magnum. if they do bring the magnum back

I see no reason why they shouldnt include iron sights for some guns. If you dont like them, dont use them :)

This IS HL2, not MOH or CoD. Easily moddable, pointless for the retail experience.

one reason might be they would have to delay the game longer! NOOOOOOOOO!

What they'll likely do is ship without them, and you can always add them once some intrepid modder wants to do it. (Ironsight packs are seemingly available for everything nowdays.)

But why not include it in the retail? It would take bugger all time to make, and you dont have to use them, they're just tere for those of us who like them.

uhhh iron sights are used for guns that have iron sights, i believe all the zooming weapons in hl2 have a scope which you use, so there is no real use for iron sights.

i dont understand how you think they would implement them on modern weapons which don't use iron sights??.....

Well, you cna always get your iron sight fill in AAOps, CoD, or *shameless plug* Cold War: Melting Point (see sig) when it releases ;)

Doesn't one of the guns have a 'reflex' open sight like the G36?

iron sights = iron sights..

..lol, basically, it's a way to aim a gun. Guns with sights, that are iron, have iron sights. Alot of WWII type games have a feature so you can either use crosshairs or iron sights to aim

Ahhh right, I see how, like on DOD alt aim, looking down the sight *rolls his eyes* Yea.. bad idea in hl2, wrong kind of weapons

edit: My gender got messed up, thats frightening.. ;(

It's not low res, it's blurred for a sort of "focus" effect.

yeah, when you're looking through the sights, focusing on something down the range, you can't focus your eyes on the sights and the target, it's just not possible, so why should a game have a perfectly focused sight and target? it shouldnt!!

But if you do wanna focus your eyes on the sights, you're basically out of luck in that game.

well yeah, but why would you wanna do that? "gee look at the pretty met"*bang* headshot, you're dead.

Hehe, agreed. Iron sights in HL2 IMO would be horribly stupid and boring.

Not if it's.. HALF-LIFE²: The Good Old Days? ahh bah. nevermind, iron sights in HL2 = pointless. Laser sights would be cool..

I would imagine the problem would be with the apparent pace of HL 2, it doesn't seem to be suited to an iron sight type game, mostly reflex shoot and move if it follows the HL 1 trend - can't imagine taking out the grunts/commandos in HL 1 by raising my gun , taking a bead on the target and firing.

No... Its just low res

I used guns before I cant say when I look down the sight it goes low res, yes it looks blurry, NOT low res, it looks low res in AA

low res low res low res! *storms off*

It's blurred! It doesn't look too great, but it's definitely supposed to be a blur effect

What's the difference in using the iron sights and the crosshair?:p

Iron sights blocks half the screen with the view model, that's what! :)

Dude it's a blur effect, they just pulled it off badly, get over it.

more importantly....is there a lean function in half-life 2? I personally think leaning should be mandatory in any action game.

SWEET I JUST MADE ZOMBIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!.........ahem, yes well.
