I just got back my report card back and I have a Variety or A's and B's but mostly b's. Only one C- which is in French 8.
So-are b's really bad? Mediocre? or Pretty good but A's better.
In case you're wondering.
In Richmond B.C., Canada.

B's are fine as far as I am concerned:

If its effort your talking about then:
A = You like the subject alot and work hard at it
B = You work hard at most of your subjects but arnt too fussed at this one
C = Your not interested in this subject but you know better than to be a pain and you work anyway.

If its attainment then so long as your effort grade is above the attainment I see no problem at all :)

I hope that helped somewhat.... It probably didnt... lol. You might have a different system alltogether where you are :upstare:

I've never gotten straight As, and I'm having no problem getting into college or doing anything else, so its definetly fine. :farmer:

Grades don't mean shit, thats about it. Last year my GPA was 3.2 and this year it is a low 2 somthing. It just means I am not trieing.

Yeah, to be honest its not gona affect you at all.

Also I think some employers actually prefere to employ people with good but not outstanding grades in my experience.

They feel threatend and intimidated.

Then I don't think you have anything to worry about. :)

Just out of interest why are you concerned? Parents purhaps?

heh, in the US an A is 90+, a B is 80-89, and a C is a 70-79. I get mostly Bs...

B are very good if u ask me! Keep up the good mood!

! w00t!

!!!

Now quit bragging :-P

He apparantly gets "B"'s on his report card yet he doesn't know the alphabet.

Well here's the alphabet in 3 easy steps.

A is the first letter, B comes "after" A, and after B there are another 24 letters. So I assume since B is only the second letter in the alphabet it'll be pretty good.

My mom is confused between B's and F's. She gets all ticked off when I get a B. :|

The only grades that really matter are the ones that colleges and universities will see. Which in Ontario (not sure about BC) means grade 12 marks (We no longer even have grade 13). Any marks before then are meant to get you into the highschool courses you want, and to keep your parents happy.

Print out my 3 easy steps and give them to her, that'll sort er out.

Yeah, pretty much-with Chinese Parents, basically only A's are exceptable.

My parents aren't Chinese, but it looks like we're i nthe same boat, Tred.

I meant, what do you think of B's?
Out of the options,
"Mediocre","Good but A's are obviously better" &" Bad"
if You're so smart, what is the lowest terms for 7/49?

That's why when your in secondry school (or whatever you call it?) get shitty grades, then when you reach your senior years/college pull your thumb out then they'll worship the ground you walk on.

1/7 Damn 10 letter limit.
Sorry, just realized that was for mortiz. :D :dork:

B's are good for College or courses you don't need/want.

However to get into university your going to need A's.

Oh well...
MORTIZ
How much would my Interest deposit be if I
Deposited $200 for 5 months if my interest rate was 1.4%?

A hard question.....

How about find the stationary points on the curve y = X squared + x cubed using differentiation, just off the top of my head....

And yes, I can *just about* do it myself lol ;)

dy/dx = 2x + 3x^2

when dy/dx = 0

2x + 3x^2 = 0 therefore x=0 or 2+3x = 0 , x = -2/3

and 1.4% anually ?

Yes, anually
What is interest usually in? Weeks?
If I barrowed $200 with that rate then I'd be ****ed...

Heheh, your'll get that sort of maths at your college if you take maths of cause...

I learnt it at AS level 6th form. (British)

Btw, maths is by far the hardest of any subject. Its the only one where you have to think as well as knowing things in my opinion. Anyone else think this is the case in Britain?

Edit: Nice Mortiz, thats what I just got. Then you just run those X values through the orriginal equation to get the Y values :)

heh. Thats what were doing in calculus right now.

Anyway I think the answer is when X=-2/3 Although I can't be bothered to sub that back into the original equation to get the Y value for it.

EDIT: Now that I see what Mortiz got Im not sure I know what you guys are doing. Does this involve finding the derivitive???

P=IRT!!! whoa or is it I=PRT.... wait i think i'm leaving something out..... argh, i should know this stuff

[edit] on topic.. i don't think there's anything wrong with a B. i got a B on a report card in spanglish... i mean spanish..... last year and interestingly enough i wasn't upset at all. it didn't even show up on my transcript since they only show semester average.

Heheh, another clever guy! :rolling: :E

Btw, while we are on the subject of education does anyone know any good sources for learning programing...

I tried a long time ago when I was about 12 but gave up cos I was lazy and havnt touched it all that much since. I really want to get bk into it though :)

EDIT: what me and Mortiz did was use differentiation to get the first thing: 2x +3x squared...

Then we simply used difference of two squares or factorisation because its a stationary point and thus = 0.

I am really knackered and aint up to writeing anything else tonight.
Sorry, I gota go. But I hope that helped. :)

It's I=PxRxT
Interest equals Principle times Rate times Time(Usually in Years, but months are still possible.

Yes, find the derivitive... set it equal to zero... gives you the points where the slope is zero...

And a few B's never hurt anyone. :)

what the heck, this is like going to calculus class... sheesh :)

That formula is for simple interest. Complex interest (or is it Compounding Interest?) is T = P(1+(R/N))^(N*T).

eeww those suck. there's one for compounding annually, monthly, weekly... and continuously.... i hate those formulas, i never remember them... any problem involving money sucks

Mortiz, you aweful, aweful bitch...:p
You haven't answered my question yet.
Oh, and dude above, if you say MacBeth, they say you're cursed.

/me says Macbeth :D
i thought that was if you performed the play... lol

No, it just happened to the performers because they were the unfortunate ones who had to say "MacBeth"

the Macbeth rumour comes from if they ever played Macbeth at theatres there'd never be an encore, something like that anyway.

and i'm pretty sure the answer to your questions somewhere in between -infinity and +infinity. i'll take a guess at 116.

seems a st00pid q. 2 me. we all no what a B means and what an A means.
It's up to you how good it is.
It's up to you to scale u'r result against the ability u no u hav.

it's that easy.
eg. if you're clever then A= acceptable. B= failure.
It's a gradation and it's obvious.

drunk....sleep 4 me.

Nah, B's are fine. I got into uni with B's and C's. Guess I kind of got sick of school towards the end. Kinda felt pointless. Didn't feel like I was... learning the right way.
