Is anyone else tired of hearing about Halo 2 and its greatness?

Seriously I'm so tired of hearing about halo 2. I don't understand why so many people like halo so much. I didn't even find it that fun. I think HL2 will be ten thousand times better than any halo game will ever be. Do any of you agree? This is a HL2 forum anyways.

halo 2 rocks. i dont understand why it has to be either hl2 is good or halo 2 is good. they are both going to be damned good games.

Hey...is anyone else tired of hearing how amazing HL2 is supposed to be? I am. I just wanna play the damn game and stop reading about how all these fanboys have an entire plan laid out how they're going to listen to a certain song when HL2 is released or how they're going to do some kind of dance or some shit when HL2 finally comes out (took Valve long enough for christ's sake). I've been playing Halo 2 and it's exactly what I wanted. I just wish HL2 had some kind of MP component to compete with any FPS on the market today. I'm sure the SP will be better than pretty much any SP FPS out right now...but considering CS:S is the only MP for HL2...I don't expect CS:S to beat out MP for anything at all. They're finally working on more player models right now for christ's sake....they didn't put all that much work into CS:S if you ask me...and not enough people here are addressing that.

BTW...I'm with gh0st.

Leave Halo players alone...play your own damn games and stop f*cking insulting the game millions love to play just because it seems to be competition for HL2. I will be playing both...why can't you lame-ass HL2 fanboys see that Halo 2 has something to offer rather than just being retards and ripping on it for no reason.

Note: I am hammered right now - do not take everything I say completely seriously. If you are one of the HL2 fanboys I refer to...grow the f*ck up and realize that HL2 is not the second coming of christ. There are other things out there than may compete or (god forbid) beat your most hyped SP game. That is all. I am going to bed.

You also have to understand that in a Half-Life 2 forum any game that isn't Half-Life 2 is going to get bashed over and over.

Same thing happened with Doom 3.
 
Actually I've heard lots of complaints re: Halo 2. I am not too phased about it.
 
hear hear amish. im sick of all the halo vs hl2 stuff that just pops up everytime some one sas sumfing bout halo2... and it is a great game.....best this year i rekon.............yet
 
It seems that since the game came out, I've heard more about how bad the game is then how good. And I don't mean on this forum, but on x-box forums as well. I;m not saying that it is bad, the same thing might happan for HL2, but even if HL2 gameplay is bad, it will still be good for graphics and physics.
 
Never played Halo, never getting a console, didn't get Halo 1 for pc due to crap port, Halo is about guys dressed as robots shooting each other.

Am I missing anything?

Of course you haven't heard anything good, that's because the millions of people who love the game are online with Xbox Live or deep into the Campaign.

halo2 is a great game, its just not the best game in the world.

First off...DOD:S is only available if you buy the Silver or Gold package...so there will be a lot less players online.

Second - CS:S and DOD:S are NOT HL2's MP. They are mods that Valve is just including them along with HL2. Notice how reviewers do not rate HL2 with CS:S as MP - they say the biggest problem is the fact that there is no MP (apart from the somewhat lower quality big outdoor environments - I'm glad that these are the only cons we have seen). People keep associating HL2 and its rating with things it has nothing to do with. Valve may have set up Source so it is easily modded, but they made HL2 with just the SP campaign.

CS:S and DOD:S and HL:S are completely separate products just bundled with HL2. Take that combination they bundled together with Xboxes a while back - It was Jet Set Radio Future or something in the same box (it was a box that opened on both sides) as Sega GT (some racing game). Now I never played either...but for fun...let's assume that Jet Set didn't have any MP...but Sega GT had split-screen capabilities. You wouldn't claim that Jet Set had MP...

Just because they are in the same engine and bundled together doesn not mean they are one in the same.


About the second part of your post...you say that any game that isn't HL2 will be bashed. Wait a second...how come lots of other games that have come out haven't been bashed...and if they have...they haven't taken nearly as big of a beating as Halo 2. I think that fanboys are just upset that other people aren't drawn to their game as much as they once were and are actually having a lot of fun with something else. So what do they do? They insult the competing game with all their might subconsciously hoping that people will believe them that the game sucks...thus bringing their attention away from that game and back to "fanboy game" or whatever they are a fanboy for.

Why else would Halo 2 be bashed so much? Do people really hate everything it stands for? Do people really think it is the worst game ever made? No...you are just all upset that so many people like the game and you can't seem to find a way to enjoy it as much as they do. Of course...all this isn't in the front of your mind. This is all subconscious (for the most part) and you just have a dislike for the game that is hardly explainable other than a few of the game's faults. I am sorta the same way with KOTOR. If you look at some of my posts you'll see that any chance I got I would post how I was not impressed by KOTOR and how I thought it was overrated. I mentioned how the plot was really a letdown and the combat was repetitive. I realize I was doing the same thing that many people are doing with Halo 2...I didn't have HL2 or some other RPG in mind when I was ripping on it..but now I see where you bashers are coming from. Hell...I wish I could enjoy KOTOR enough to play it through tons of times like many of you have...but I just didn't find it as fun as you guys did.

We try to enjoy games we play (there are people on these forums that have said they tried really hard to enjoy Halo or Halo 2...but they just didn't like it - maybe you have to like the general feel of the game first...I dunno) and when we see tons of people playing a game we didn't like...we get annoyed or upset.

The trying to like the game part only applies to those of you that have played the game. To the people that rip games apart not having played them: You suck.

Dude I'm not insulting anyone. I'm just tired of hearing about Halo 2 and I'm tired of hearing those queer fanboys. I was just seeing if others had the same opinion. I'm not saying that Halo 2 is not good, or that you have to choose between the 2 but why does everyone keep going on about it.

Look, HL2 may not have a direct multiplayer. But indirtectly it can attract people with mods which can be "Multipalyer" profit for valve. As you see, if someone created a super fun mod that can attract sales for HL2 thus from an indirect technical standpoint that mod could be considered HL2's multipalyer.

GOD! JUST STFU, AND IF YOU REALLY THINK A GAME IS BETTER THAN ANOTHER GAME THEN STFU AND GO PLAY THAT GAME. IF THE GAME ISN'T OUT YET DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT COMPARING THEM. WAIT TILL HL2 COMES OUT, THEN PLAY HALO 2 THEN PLAY HL2 THEN DECIDE WHAT ONE YOU LIKE BETTER AND KEEP IT TO YOURSELF.

If we would all keep comments like these and Game Roxers threads then we wouldn't be so annoyed!

None of that stuff was really directed at you, but more at the stereotypical "Halo Hater". I just think setting up this thread was inviting flames galore and other negative chat.

Hmmm, maybe you guys should play with your friends. Seriously, I'm going over On Sat to play [Halo 2] and we all played on Halloween [Halo], it's insanely fun.

Personally, I think Halo is not fun by yourself, it's when you're with other people (preferably about 8) that it gets fun. "DAMN YOU! I WILL KILL YOU!" "BASTARD STOP SNIPING!" "CAMPER!" "FOXY?! WHO IS FOXY I'M GOING TO PWN YOU!"

That's what makes Halo so popular. :laugh: Ah, the memories.

Then you get the Keyboard/Mouse adapter and you're in business.

I'm sick of hearing people bash it, there have been about 1 good thread for halo 2 to every 10 bashing it.
 
I was over at a friend's house trying to play Halo 2 for the past few days, since I don't own an X-Box and GTA:SA is keeping me occupied. I thought Halo 2 would be amazing because of all the hype and the magazine reviews. However, that wasn't the case. All I found was an Energy Sword, a Covenant Carbine, a Battle Rifle, and a few others packed into a rehashed Blood Gulch or other maps. Don't get me wrong -- it's still fun, but I don't see how different it is from the first Halo. As far as the single player campaign goes, it was just as repetitive as the first. I played Halo before and I nearly fell asleep. For a truly honest opinion from a Half-Life 2 fan, Halo 2 deserves an 8.6 at best. However, that is just my opinion. Furthermore, my friends were telling me that the biggest reason to buy Halo 2 is because you could dual-wield. No way! Dual-wielding? That's a good reason to make the same game with a few new guns and slap on a 2. And it does get pretty far-fetched when you also hear people saying "Oh my GOD! The rocks actually MOVE when you walk into them!" Obviously, they ain't seen nothin' yet until this coming Tuesday.
 
i'm tried of hearing it's the best game ever... but i'd rather see the game come to PC so i can make my own opinion. yeah it's probably a bit fun. original halo was okay. too many identical places for me :\
