I seriously hope you're kidding. Sure basic training will be tough, the Marines do consider themselves to be elite for a reason, but saying that he'll be doing 20 mile runs every day carrying a 50 pound pack is a little excessive. If he's planning on becoming, err, trying to become a Recon Marine that's a pretty apt description of their conditioning runs, but he won't be a twitching mass of muscle ready to bite the head off of anyone who so much as looks at him the wrong way just because he completed the Marine's basic training.Glirk Dient said:Anyways...marines...lets see. Oh have fun waking up before breakfast and running 20 miles with full battle gear before breakfast as a warm up. yeah...thats right think its a joke till your puking up blood. Boot is going to be a bitch, the first 1/3rd is called breakdown and after that it gets a little better and they then retrain you to think the marine way. You will come out with your chest all puffed up full of pride and be able to serve a real ass kicking. After that you go to school whether its infantry or whatever. Then you go to Iraq and get shelled in the middle of the night, donate blood for the marines in the hospital or when they get ambushed and constantly get torn up by the infidels because they hate someone else. Have fun!

Damn you. Marines is not the way to go in this day and age.
NAVY FTW!
Sit in big boats for months on end, blowing shit up from the safety of your airconditioned quarters.

Having a strong personality did not make me suitable for it, if i would have carried on there would have been serious problems.
They break you down and then build you up again, how they want.
