We have all been on a few of the many Dustbowl only, Dustbowl 24/7, servers. And I would say the majority of the TF2 community loves Dustbowl, in short its TF2's Dust2. But...after playing Goldrush this morning...

Is it the new dustbowl, it has a very similar layout, contains 3 stages and is a f*cking riot to play.

So, is Goldrush the new Dustbowl...DISCUSS!!

from my experience goldrush is a lot easier for attackers and harder for defenders.

I've like dustbowl, gravelpit, and now Goldrush ALOT.

lol if you look carefully you can see that valve used some parts of dustbowl in goldrush

Actually I feel the complete opposite way, btw the explosion if the attackers win is amazing.

What explosion.

It just goes into the drop off point.
ONE DOES NOT IMPLY GOLDRUSH INTO MORDOR

the attacking team has to win the first two points.
then the final one is where it goes boom.

also its varies on the difficulty depending on teamwork. this map requires the most teamwork out of any of them.

I wouldn't say they're equal. They both rock, but in different ways. Great map, by the way.

Oh on the server i visit, it usually restarts map on the second one -_-
And can anyone remember the TFC map where its in a desert region and there are two bases, there is a rock bridge leading the bases to each other where snipers usually spend their time. and then there are sewers to the other side sideways where its a creek with many battlements?

It's way better than Dustbowl.

(Not that I know I've played it once. But it was an awesome once!)

I've only seen it once - hit a lag spike just as it started so I didn't get to see it in all its glory. An excellent demonstration of the new cinematic physics stuff... plus Ellen McLain's crazy laugh is one of the best things ever.

It's a very good map, but I doubt it'll be another dustbowl.

I enjoy it much more than dustbowl but that's just because it's a fresh experience.

I've seen it twice. The first time I literally thought "I'm a pyro, there's fire, these two must be combined!" and jumped in to the pit :D

Playing slightly drunk and very tired is the best thing ever.

Goldrush holds its own place. It won't replace dustbowl, but it won't be forgotten by dustbowl.

Dustbowl is my favourite map, but so far Goldrush is looking good. It feels a little unbalanced towards the defenders so far, but then so did Dustbowl when it first came out (start of the second area, im looking at you!) One thing I've felt so far, is that you need to be on a Goldrush 24/7 server to really feel like you have properly attacked and defended.

I actually enjoy the fact that goldrush is currently biased towards defending, because it adds two very reasonable incentives to the game:
- The defenders get the incentive to use smart tricks to kill enemies like putting demo's sticky bombs to corners and roofs or building sentry turrets which only start firing after hostiles have moved to some part of the track from which they can fall back until they're dead.
- The attackers get the incentive to PROPERLY PLAY AS A TEAM.

Anyone else notice what's written on the bomb in Goldrush? :D

Haven't had time to look at the bomb really, it's usually quite a hectic thing to be near to. :D

Check it out sometime if you happen to be spectating. :D

They are similar, an attack vs. defense map but with a different play mechanic, many people I've talked to are saying
(and I agree) that this map is waaay to long in playtime, basically two hours.

Goldrush is currently my favourite map, it is just all round greatness.

I think Goldrush is the best map TF2 has right now. Its just so much fun. So many high low places!

No. Simply because I have no idea by what you mean "the new dustbowl". I never considered Dustbowl to be "the best", if that's what you're implying, and I've not met many people who have particularly favourited it.

I do think Goldrush is a brilliant map, though. It's not too long, and it's not too simple or hard. Some of the maps can extend quite a while, yet all the games of Goldrush are pretty straight forward, not dragging on like well. It has the same goal of CTF without losing the teamwork which a lot of people seem to forgo when playing. It's strangely elegant.
