cause in robocop1 the movie he is 100% jesus. Will gordon freeman be like an american-jesus in hl2? Like a iconic version.

LMAO!! wtf kind of question is that ROFL!! im laughing coz it is so random.

why are you all hating? i wanted to know if he is like jesus figure in game.

Subz is actually referring to a recurring literary theme. Most great works (novels, tv shows, movies) relate there protagonists to christ. Gordon I believe will in scenes resemble christ and his struggles (suffers for humanity? To save humanity?.) in other words he fights to save the world from something he wasent responsible for completely. In a way you could compare the g-man to god. God guided jesus on the right path and shared his pain. Biblical references are all over Half-Life come to think of it. Most likely we will see several in Half-Life 2. Robocop like Subz said does have many similarities to christ actually- http://www.robocoparchive.com/info/making1-2.htm third listed article.

I suggest you stop being ignorant and only post if you mean to add to the original posters discussion.

"Paul Verhoeven said the reason why he did the movie was because it was a retelling of the story of Jesus Christ. The Christ influences include the death and resurrection of Murphy. His hand is nailed by a bullet. He stands in crucified fashion and his body is pierced with many bullets and the last bullet is delivered to his brow. He is taken to the hospital where he his reconstructed. He is then resurrected as half human and half machine. Jesus at his resurrection was also changed. In the end there is the scene when RoboCop goes towards Boddicker and he walks on the water. I think you're looking too far into this, when VALVe sat down to write HL2's story, I don't think they thought "Hey, how about we make Gordon into a Jesus type-character!!!". It's a video game with a science fiction story, and the fact that he's returned "out of the abyss" as it where was probably thought up so they didn't have to think up loads of back story.

I'm not saying the biblical paralells are intentional or deliberate, just that they exist. Most literature (or any story) in some way can be compared to the Bible, it's just interesting for me to analyze and discuss the reaccuring new testament simalirities. The bible just happens to be one of the first recorded examples of the most common literary motifs in existence. I happen to find this a great thing to discuss and tops the "omg hl2 nev4r is c0m1ng out" threads.

Like I said the Bible is just one of the first recorded examples.

Well, folks, he ain't named Freeman for nothing; he is a "Free man" which is ironic, because he's totally not free, and he is also (or will be, it seems) a "Free-er" of men. That doesn't neccessarily make him a Christ-figure (the typical literary term) unless he ends up dying to save others, which seems unlkely, since there is a sequel planned, lol.

Ah, the public school system reaping the benefits of 1969.

Technicly if you put no clip on gordon can walk on water. HES MY SAVIOR
Thats it everybody. Im starting to build the the first Unorthadox Church of Gordon Freeman.

Well you know, the bible sells, its a marketing thing. A science fiction game built on a science fiction book. Makes sense.
Although the book is much more boring than the game.

The player is supposed to be Gordon Freeman (For some reason i almost typed Morgan Freeman :p)

so if the player is Gordon Freeman, and Gordon is Jesus, then YOU are JESUS.

Now do you see why your completly off?

This topic certainly deserves more than one "wtf" award in this year's category: "The most wtf of them all".
