This is called flaming. Don't do it, or you might get banned.

I would advise against that type of behaviour.

Heh, my dad is 49 and he absolutely loves half-life2 and deathmatch and says he plays it almost everyday. So your not the only one :)

The source engine isn't the *best engine ever made* by any standards and has some faults, but it defintely looks good due to the high level of art quality and level design. I was also impressed with the outdoor lighting and radiosity, HDR is an added benefit that is coming out for it now. The character animation and facial expressions are the "jewel in the crown" so to speak from the other engines out there, in my opinion.

Yes and i would say buying half-life2 is definitely worth it (me honestly i got the silver package digitally off steam and i essentially get a whole load of games just for $60. Right off the bat you get half-life2, hl2:dm, counterstrike source, and as of today, DOD: Source. With near 1000 mods in production for it (well, at least maybe 5-6 will be very high quality (heh), including a remake of the original half-life on source) its a pretty good investment.

Have fun :)

No, I played it once and will probably never play it again - its utterly linear and ultimately boring + stutter bugs aplenty.

Without the "half-life' branding it would have got a very average rating and been forgotten about months ago (which it has anyway). Save your cash.

I've spent more time letting Steam update than actually playing the game...

HL2 is way beyond any of the games you've mentioned, at least in single player.

yes you have to experience the game. And the HL2 deathmatch and counter strike source will keep you busy after you beat the single player game.

it's epic, and you can't miss it. you're very late. go get it now!

Hmm, not only did you flame some guy for no apparent reason, you felt it was necessary to wake up an ancient thread to do so, Why? I suppose the retard tag you put at the end of your post was aimed at yourself?
I have already stated my opinion about this earlier in the thread, weird thread though, asking HL² fans if HL² was good... Hehe ;o)

It's very much worth it, as its pretty hard NOT to enjoy some parts of it. There's just so much variety in game, that it shouldn't get old until at least the 3rd or 4th time through.

And after you've had it with the single-player you can just jump on Counter-Strike: Source or HL2:DM or any of the mods that are out for it.

Besides, i think the game is half-price at most stores now anyways.
