If I bought a legit copy of HL2 can I mount the playdisc(CD5) with Deamon Tools so I don't have to put the CD in the drive everytime I want to play (I don't want to get it scratched)? And I'm not asking is it possible, but is it legal?

Of course it is. That's why Daemon tools is freely available and doesn't have to hide in some obscure country.

EDIT: Of course legally companies don't have to make it easy to use a virtual CD.

I thought this doesn't work

Now I'll just need to make an iso and then I can put away those cd's for good.

It's legal. I do it all the time, but I use Alcohol 120%... I burn the images of play discs to DVD's, then mount them from there. It means only bringing like 2-3 DVD's to a lan party instead of 20+ cd's, and it means I don't have to worry about someone swiping my cd keys off my cases... It happened with my original Half-Life and I had to buy a new copy 'cause the jackass got my key banned.

Why are you even asking, does it matter? You paid for the game, do what you please.

"Mounting a CDs" Isn't that considered rape since the CD can't fight back?

Feds are coming
