Police found a 15-year-old boy with his throat slit inside a house in Ciudad Juarez

Some 9600 people have died in suspected drug-related attacks in Mexico since the start of 2008

Along the border to the northwest, police in the city of Tijuana found the headless, tortured body of a hostess for a second division soccer team in a rubbish dump

These drug related deaths seem to have skyrocketed in the last couple of years or is it just media coverage.

As terrible as it is, there are worse things going on in other countries.

Yea, I'd rate genocide in other countries wayyy above this.

Afghanistan or some country in Africa is probably the "most ****ed up country in the world." I went to Mexico for the first time last month, it's a pretty chill place. It's not like every part of the country is under siege by cartels.

That's nothing compared to some of the shit that happens in some African countries.

You idiot.

America is clearly the most ****ed up country in the world!

Somalia and DR Congo wins for most ****ed up countries in the world.

Still, this is pretty bad.

ya mexico is the worst country in the world:

June 25 (Reuters) - The United States said on Thursday it had sent weapons to Somalia's government to help thwart Islamist insurgents, who cut hands and feet off thieves and paraded the severed limbs in the streets of Mogadishu

Mobs hunting immigrants in poor suburbs around Johannesburg have killed 22 people, South African police said today..

Horrific accounts of killings and attacks have emerged, including several people being burnt to death. One or more of them was killed by a burning tyre around the neck.

'Child-witches' of Nigeria seek refuge

Mary was found by a British charity worker and today lives at a refuge in Akwa Ibom province with 150 other children who have been branded witches, blamed for all their family's woes, and abandoned. Before being pushed out of their homes many were beaten or slashed with knives, thrown onto fires, or had acid poured over them as a punishment or in an attempt to make them "confess" to being possessed. In one horrific case, a young girl called Uma had a three-inch nail driven into her skull.

mexico, the worst place in the world, except for nigeria, south africa, somalia, sri lanka, east timor, haiti, sierra leon, iraq, afghanistan, occupied palestine etc etc etc

Oh yeah one more! Sudan! 40 lashes if a woman wears pants!!

America is the only country in the world.

I guess Mexico is the most ****ed up country in the world, that also happens to border to the world's largest economic giant and only remaining superpower.

Is that fair?

Mexico has always perplexed me as someplace that seems to have a huge potential to be a great(er) country, but has never had the right stuff to get started. For ever. Like an engine that has gas in the tank and keys in the starter, but nobody has ever managed to turn the engine over. Worst country? Nah.

Only parts of Mexico are bad. Like parts of America and every other country. Say for example...Detroit and Vietnam. (well actually pretty much all of Vietnam is bad).

It is ****ed up.

I've lived in El Paso (adjacent to Cd. Juarez) for all of my life. We used to go to Juarez a lot, as there were a lot of good restaurants and shops there. It used to be kinda like a family picnic we took from time to time. Now things are too dangerous. A friend of my brother's was having her quinceanera in Juarez when a stray bullet from a gunfight came through the window and struck her in the head, killing her. People die over there by the hundreds, and hundreds more disappear without a trace. The police are more corrupt than the criminals (I can attest to this personally). Many tourists are extorted for money or valuables by the police, with the consequence of refusal being a Mexican jail. It's every bit as ****ed up as the media says it is, and a lot else goes on that they don't report on.
