I've been playing fear... great game BTW. but with everything on high (not maximum) with vsync on and x4 AA running on 1024 768 some spots got a very noticeable drop in frame rate. with the system I have, is this odd? for having SLI on?

i can run the game with everything on high but only with soft shadows and AA off for it to run smooth.

am I just being picky? I assumed that having dual cards I should be able to run any game with high everything including AA!

BTW I can run doom 3 with ultra quiality AA x4 with 1152 864 and Its smooth. so it just seems weird.

test results
min 27

max 61

Your computer is on drugs? Im not sure...with that kind of computer i would think you should be getting a constant 60+FPS even on max settings

man, WTF :(
someone please give me some idea of what the problem could be and how to fix this. this just sucks.

I need to hear from somone with a SLi configed comp

Send me your computer. I'll give it a once-over.

TBH you really only need 2x AA when running at 1024 x 768. Try that first.

And check the amount of lesbians.

ok, I put it at x2AA, lowered the shader and water detail and added more lesbians and I seems to be ok. I still get a little bit of a noticibly low framerate in some places but I can deal.

Try turning on triple buffering in the Nvidia Control panel, it should help becuase you are runnnig it with vsync.

I think that soft shadows have a huge effect on your fps. Could maybe try turning everything off, and putting all settings to teh lowest and then try upping them slowely until it looks good and plays nice and smooth.

It doesn't matter which of the settings have any effect, he should be able to run it smoothly at top settings with that set up. I run at 1280 x 960, 2 x af, max everything apart from low shadows, soft shadows on, med lighting, and a couple of the effects settings on med, and i still get 45-80 fps everywhere. That system should eat fear for breakfast.

Devil - have you tried running fear in non-sli, i.e. disable sli and run it with one card and see how it works. That may give you an idea as to whether it is an sli issue.

yeah when i run sli there isn't a HUGE difference. while it runs better with it on it doesn't run where I can turn everything up high and I think that thats not right.

Something is definitely not right there. You have the latest drivers ?

Now its working fine... I have no Idea why it was doing that. Maybe cuz I reseated it.
