I was just flipping through the binks, and I noticed what looks like Duck Tape on Alyx's vest! I guess the combine managed to nuke all the clothing stores...

On-topic: Yeah it looks like some kind of tape, around where the seam is so I guess its just old clothing patched up.. Silver tape, isn't that often industrial strength or electrical tape or something? I'm not too up on the old engineering side of things though

I dont know if the Silver tape means anything specific, I thought the tape was typically grey or silver cause back in the day all pipes were made of metal. I think. Anyways, I really like how valve put that much detail into the clothing. I wonder if we'll see combine uniforms patched up? its soo boring killing the exact same person time after time.

Aha yeah thats the kind.. I've used it before but I can't remember where or what on. the black duct tape seems more home side of things, the stronger stuff garages and so on.

Six Three: Yeah I agree, that kind of attention to detail on the characters would be brilliant. Each combine being just slightly different.. That would make a huge improvement over just about every game out there.

I imagine something like in HL1, the scientists were all randomised, so in Source I'm gonna bet it can be extended further, which should be really interesting when used in Mods later on

Yeah... what I gathered from it was that they'll be swapping heads and limbs, stuff like that, so that you get a different Random Townsperson (or whatever) every time...

They could use the same technique they used on the scientists, blend a whole slew of images together to make endless combinations which equal no 2 people looking alike. They could easily do this with enemies /me thinks. Imagine having a differnt antlion coming at you all the time. Different stripes and markings, maybe even a scar.

yeah the HL1 scientists were basic and just a few different heads. Source engine should be able to allow a great deal more, and as you say (from an idea of mine in an email once might I add hehe) that limbs and such could be done in the same way.
