I'll be buying a new graphics card next saturday. I'm going to stick to Nvidia cards (more reliable). I'll be giving my old graphics card, a Radeon9800SE, to either my mate or my Dad.

Anyway I've spotted this which they sell near me.

There are a few striking features that I want somebody to consult me about
What is UltraShadowII
What are the benefits of GDDR memory as opposed to DDR

I also want to find out what version of shaders it is capable off (shader 3.0?)

yes it is capable oof doing PS 3.0 and ultrashadow to allows for soft shadows to be renedered like the ones in doom 3 im not really sure on the gddr3 ram but i think its allows for faster speeds and ocing. also what is that price in american

Not entirely sure, I guessing the exchange rate is usually around 1.5, so probably looking at $255, but I'm not usually sure how you for prices overthere. Is Nvidia a European based company

Yeah, 255 sounds about right for a 6600gt.

As for UltrashadowII, I have no idea wtf that is. Sounds like a marketing gimmick to me.

And afaik, GDDR has much faster access times than DDR. Asus will probably correct me on this though :p

And yes, 6600gt's are excellent cards, but if I were you, i'd softmod that 9800se to a pro and then keep that till some newer cards come out and the 7800's dip in price. I believe we are right at the begginin of a new generation of videocards, so I don't think that 6600 would last you very long.

128mb gddr3 definately

I thought you might say that. To be personally honest I believe its the type of memory that really determines how expensive the card is.

I still getting the card from my local retail, mainly because the one that I want has GDDR3 and has 16.8GB memory bandwidth
