I'm just wondering if the update with the new weapons is still being ported to the 360 version. if it isn't, then i'll move on.
it's just that i've only heard that it was coming a while back but never heard anything about it being still worked on or cancelled.

It's definitely not been canceled, and I doubt it will be. You'll just have to wait for news I guess.

i think they are waiting until all of the classes are finished before releasing it.

This is a rather good interview. In it (amoung other things) Gabe explains that it's really ****ing hard to release this sort of crap for the 360, and also that he's really upset about poor orphaned PS3 players.

When the spy/sniper update came out I really wanted to play some TF2, since I only have it on the 360 I decided to give it a try. I got into a game on Hydro, first thing I see is a red sniper (i'm on red team) in my spawn and hes glowing like he's ubered and he's somehow killing everyone on my team. Then I get into a 2fort game and I see an antlion from HL:2 just sitting there like a statue not moving an inch, then a bunch of them spawn so I leave that game. So I decide to try out one more game, first thing I see is a green spy flying around, so then I just quit. So yeah, the 360 version of TF2 is a pile of horse stank.

Yeah, Source games are really meant to be played on PC, in my opinion.

I've only heard of a size limit for arcade games. As for DLC I've seen some several gigabytes in size. I don't see the Team Fortress update being any bigger than that.

The size limit for required patches and such is 8MB, as I recall. Obviously the patch to bring TF2 from the current 360 version to the current PC version is much more than that, so if it happens, it must be optional content.

The problem with the DLC model is versioning. If they put out optional DLC to bring it up to where the PC version is, the player base would be divided into those with the update and those without. If they put out incremental updates (like they do for the PC), the player base gets further divided, since each update has to be optional DLC.

I believe Valve are waiting for all the class updates to be out before offering one huge optional DLC one the 360, hence only dividing the player base in two. Further updates on the PC wouldn't get to the 360 until there's enough new content to justify dividing the player base again, or Microsoft and Valve work out a better way to get incremental updates to 360 users. (Or the 360 version just stops getting support. We're talking about a long enough time frame that there may be a new console generation, or the PC version of TF2 may be finalized.)
