I mean this search absolutely sucks in every conceivable way. I mean Google has allready made a desktop search, haven't they or anybody else made a forum search tool or something that works, that someone can recommend?:imu: :imu:

I don't think it sucks at all - with advanced searching you can find what you're looking for without any trouble usually.

QFE.

What exactly don't you like about it?!

It would help if we had any idea what sort of problems you had with the search.

Like for example if I go the Films, TV and DVD forum, and I go to searhc this forum I type something like "Over there" just to test out the search, cause there is a topic named I didn't like "over there" you would think I would get that or some other results, instead I get
Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.
, this is just an example, but i can't seem to find a lot of things with search, for me it just doesn't work that well, And if you're wondering, I typed over there with the ", because I know those words are common terms.

Have you tried doing a hard refresh -- Ctrl +F5

Isn't that just the same as "F5"?

Anyway, FireFox does move things about on forums, I used it and had to change to Netscape because everytime you went to a forum you have to refresh to see it again. Sometimes I got peoples avatars as the "New Topic" button... wierd.

No, CTRL-F5 forces it to load fresh, normal F5 may load some things from the cashe.

Go to google, type in your seach item and add site:www.halflife2.net/forum on the end. Not ideal, it won't have the latest threads, but its about the only other option apart from the built in forum search.

I did a hard refresh and a normal refresh: still nothing...

the only thing that annoys me about search is that the results are highlighted in green.. I liked the old bright red better

I'm sorry to hijack this thread, but the irony is that I can't start a new thread about it because that's my problem.

The lay-out is all ****ed up and I can't see or use buttons like 'quote' or 'make thread'.

I asked for help at #halflife2. Big mistake.
Are you sure you haven't accidentally a.d-blocked 'http://www.halflife2.net/forums' or something - I tried it just then and it produced similar results to your image.

Edit: For some reason, a.d-blocked is in the censored words list. Odd.

Heh, yes, a.d.block is well, blocked, in a fun twist of irony. But yeah, sounds like something is possibly blocking those things. Either that, or something is up with your browser. Try taking a look at the site with a different browser maybe?

You sure you got images to display in settings?

looks like you dont have images on and munro in his infinate wisdom probably uses spacer.gifs.

ANd it seems like 99% of all english word are either "very common, too long, or too short"... :|

I can see this site normal in IE, but not in FF.

I'm using a.d-block for a while now and I never had this problem before until yesterday.

Deleting a.d-block doesn't help, I just did it and it's still the same.

I see that light blue style page for about a quarter of a second in FF, just before the working one pops in.

Extra -> Options -> Web functions -> "Load images" was checked, but if I clicked "Exceptions" there was for some reason www.halflife2.net

I know for sure that I didn't add it. Maybe some nasty script did it.

Oh, and I reïnstalled A.dblock

Edit: Thanks to all the help I received. It's nice to see that.
