is this a real release rls date?

im new to the forums but found this news while searching mod sites. im an avid hl2 fan and have been watching the forums for months. I read this at the "Western Revenge" mod site and wasnt sure if this has been posted or if it is legit:

"HL² Release Date
Yesterday there was an announcement by Doug Lombardi in an interview that HalfLife 2 will be in the stores around mid to late september.
Offcourse since we all know Valve , you could believe this is another one of their tricks, but since Lombardi gives pritte precise and exact timings, you can hold your heart and hope that HalfLife will be in stores before 30 september 2004."

he says his source is www.halflifesource.com but i couldnt find this quote on the site. anyone find it on that site or know where i can find the quote from Lombardi.

i figured it was but i was wondering where he found this information, sure beats me but makes me happy... i think realistically the game will be released mid oct. or early nov.

EDIT: The Western Revenge news post was posted on 30th July 2004, so it's out of date news.

This is probably an older quote. I don't see how HL2 could be released by Sept. 30. Even if it goes gold today, thats less than 2 weeks of production time.

the most Doug Lombardi has said was "soon" which really could mean anywhere from the end of the month to mid October right into November.. i wouldn't hold my breath if i were u

it would be impossibly difficult to get this game from RC to Gold to stores in that ammount of time.

Sorry to burst your bubble dude but that's how the world of business works. I'm guessing at a late october maybe early november release.

haha, that would be the biggest blunder ever in the gaming industry to release it next year. i mean, i thought valve made complete fools of themselves by being over a year late on their original release date. i mean, we all know the game wasnt done last year, or even close to it. so it better be out this year
