I no longer have that issue of pc zone but i remember distinctively reading that HL2 in one of the videos was displayed on ati4200 with 2ghz p4, i just wanted to verify this because there is someone lalalalalaing saying that simply cant be.

Does anyone have the issue with a possible scan or any other links to it?

I knwo i can't have reda wrong because i reda it a number of times to make sure...

yeah i still have that issue

its an unoptimised 2ghz P4 but does not mention the graphics card
doubt its a ti4200 though, more like 9600 or 9700

Also remember reading on a site somewhere the same thing but I definately remember reading ti4200 somewhere, someone must have a little link somehwere :p

PCZONE june 2003 - Issue 129...........

all it says about the system the journalist played on is that it was a 2ghz machine

I thought we heard from Gabe that the E3 machines were using a Geforce 4.

no they were on the dell pc gaming pc whatever they call it, 9800 pro vid card.

The first preview made was, according to the sources a 1.8GHz P4 using a GeForce 4 powered card.

they said the graphics were "dvd-quality" so i doubt it's been 640x480

next pc zone (which is out on the 16th oct) will have the REVIEW of hl2!

and yes review means the game has to be out first.

but no matter what the pc zone next issue on the 16th oct WILL have the REVIEW...

it will have the review because it will be the DECEMBER ADDITION PC ZONE MAG.

not necessarily, magazines sometimes review games months before release and if you read the small print it almost always says subject to change so they were goin on the presumption of a September 30th release if you read the preview

:bounce:

Just clik quote ,not difficult lol .Lazy heih?

Yes Pczone usually gets exclusive reviews for Europe weeks before the game hits the shops.

They've had over a week to change it.

sadly pc zone thought it was out on the 30th too.

there wont be a review but their will be a very pissed off group of fans/journalists flaming valve in the mail box section.

I have a PC Gameplay magazine here (i'm from holland), in which it indeed says the first hl2 demos shown were on a 1.8Ghz Pentium 4 and a GeForce4 Ti4200. I guess a ti4200 will run hl2 good since it's a nice card, but not with anti-aliasing and ofcourse without the dx9 effects like HDR and such.

There are 2 screenshots out there that compare dx9 and dx8.1 in HL2 i dont see much difference, but maybe in movement it will be greater.
I own a ti4800 so i hope its not that different, and i´m not getting a new card just yet not before next summer
