Is this real?

edit: oh the hack haha, no its probably a photoshop.

My CS looks like that all the time when I get an MSN messenger alert. Seriously, I wish I could stop it, one day its going to get me banned. It doesn't last long enough for me to get any advantage from it, though..

Well, I think its real.

I just found and spoke to the guy who made it, it's very real. We discussed how it works and as I suspected it's a simple D3D wallhack, the same thing that's used for most D3D games. He showed me a bunch of other screenshots that have been posted to the end of the other thread by someone, but I don't think he's going to release the hack The other screenshots are a lot more conclusive because of the way non-player entities are being rendered (look at the backfake culling on the windows behind the wallon this image: http://img57.exs.cx/img57/8356/it_real6.jpg).

well, fake or not, its not really worth taking the chance. if theres even the slightest chance theres a wallhack out already, you should let valve know!

Same here only for me its most of my Steam games whenever i Alt-Tab or get a message over MSN or AIm

LOL i thought someone shrunk the T's or somethin..

first time i have seen a wall hack..

Yes, that's photoshopped probably......but this isn't:

I dont know it looks photoshoped, you can tell by the white hue around all the characters.

White hue?

Just because this is cs:s and its running on the HL2 engine, does not mean it cant be hacked. Its not magical revolutionary code because you hipe up a possibly amazing game, its just built upon from HL.

Cheats will be made for games, and there is no way to stop it.

So far as anyone knows, VAC isn't running on the BETA yet.

So these things should be cleared up for the final release... until new ones come out that is.

yeah it is pathetic that valve cant stop cheaters.

If you knew anything about what you are spouting about you might realise how pathetic that statement was.... :x

Seriously, new cheats are being made all the time. You expect valve just o magically get rid of them the minute a new one arrives. It doesnt work like that I am afriad. It takes effort.. and time. Also, half the hacks made are made without the engine. They are designed to take advantage of problems in the rendering code supplied by dirrect3d or openGL.

In addition to all this, might I point out that you say valve is pathetic for not stoping cheats. But really.... what other game has won against cheats in the first person shooter genre.

Hell I am astonished there are so few hackers out there considering the massive size of the audience for valves games. (and the amount of assholes in the world)

Valve have actually invested in an anti cheat system to help this battle against lame bastards. You should appreciate their efforts instead of slagging them off because you think its the cool thing to do.

Dont be incredulous, you dont knew that CS is most popular online game? what did you hope? like Zips said , VAC isn't running on the BETA yet.

Actually in his other thread he shows that it's not.

It's through some console command (that he won't state how to do it completely) that he can get the PiP while playing.

I agree with pretty much all that you said, but actually Halo has remained aimbot free since it's release. It's just one of the reasons why it's my favorite online FPS, and it's really great to know the guy pistoled you because he is better not because he relies on a program to aim for him.

Of course Halo is pretty much hated around here but oh well. Just figured I'd point that out.

Also I just read the post that said VAC isn't running on beta yet. Is that confirmed? If so then that's somewhat good news. At least it explains the ease of getting a new cheat for all the lamers so quickly.

yeah i know that, shit i wish valve could stop cheaters, but it just aint gonna happen. but its just funny that a big company cant stop a bunch of ppl that hack for fun.

cheating is clearly prolific, even in secure servers. they just need to hide the fact that they are cheating moreso.
i'm not some newbie who started playing in 1.3 or whatever either, i started around beta 5. back when aimbots were hardly present, and when they were, they just came out and admitted it. now people play serious with cheats on, it's "incredulous".

You dont get many people messing around With PB since "GUID" hardware bans ..
Hope VALVe took a look at PB recently..

Subject: PunkBuster

The cost of hacking on PunkBuster servers has just gone up significantly. PunkBuster now computes Hardware GUIDs for various pieces of hardware on players' systems while playing on PunkBuster servers. We use multiple private one-way hashes so that no serial number information for individual computers can be determined by admins or anyone else who may try to obtain this information from a Hardware GUID (and as always, no personal information of any kind is examined, stored or transmitted by PunkBuster). When players raise a violation that corresponds to hacking or interfering with PunkBuster's normal operation, we now (in addition to Global PB GUID bans) are Globally banning the new Hardware GUIDs across all games supported by PunkBuster (including games supported in the future). So punks who are determined to cheat so badly on PB-enabled servers that they try to hack PunkBuster may now need a new computer in addition to a new cdkey in order to return to PunkBuster servers. As with previous PB GUID Global bans, the new Hardware GUID bans are permanent and will not be lifted. As always, players who are affected by these Global bans will still be able to play on non-PB servers. Honest users should never "test" hacks that claim to interfere with PunkBuster. We have successfully tested this new feature set over the past few weeks for a few supported games and will be rolling it out to all supported games over the next few days and weeks. Additionally, PunkBuster servers will be updated to signify whether kicks for Global bans are for PB GUIDs or the new Hardware GUIDs.

Haha that's great. Too bad it doesn't cause their monitor to blow up, ripping the cheater's face apart in a spray of shrapnel.

Maybe some day...

Well it sucks.

Oh and really I'm getting tired of people saying stuff like "Man why do people cheat? They are so ****in pathetic!!11" because if anyone told you "Man why do you play HL2 it's so nerdy!" would you care? No! It's what you want to do. In fact, saying that stuff encourages the cheaters even more.

For example, *****'s ONLY mission goal is to piss people off and they LOVE to hear statements like those. Why do people say it? They want some sort of revolution and want them to say "Fine I'll quit hacking" because that happens to less than 1% of all hackers.... Nobody just magically stops hacking if it is waht they want to do.

That hardware GUID could be used in a bad way. Like go into a LAN cafe, hack, and boom that comp can never play on like 90-95% of PB enabled servers. Plus I'm sure people will counter-hack that by telling the server they have different hardware thus making them have a hardware GUId.... Having those thngs only slow hackers down, not stop them.

Like some of those things even end up being a pain to legal users. Like in Splinter Cell you had to close all CD writing software. Well that meant before I could play I had to close lots of programs which I wasn't using. Sure it doesn't sound like anything but when I bought the game I had no clue what was going on....

Oh and VAC isn't in CS:S yet so we don't know how well it will protect us. We will see soon hopefully. VAC2 that is :)

end of discussion.

Or so you thought.

Little did you know that the reply button is still under my control.

DISCUSSION RESUMED!

or something.

Yeah well, hopefully these hacks (if they are real) can be eliminated by VAC once CSS is officially released.

Because, it's impossible for them to be eliminated during the beta? lol

It's not? I dunno, if you've read that somewhere, you're probably right. As I haven't read either anything either way.
